Patent number: 8736397Abstract: A coaxial to microstrip transition is introduced in a multi layer mixed dielectric printed circuit board environment that provides a 50 Ohm impedance system between a coaxial antenna feed and a surface mount diplexer at Ku-band frequencies. The 50 Ohm transition from the coaxial antenna feed to the diplexer at microwave frequencies lossy FR-4 style laminate is provided by constructing a PCB internal coax using the center conductor of the antenna feed and a dual ring of plated through hole VIAs. The transition from the PCB internal coax to the microstrip section of the high frequency laminate PCB layer uses a “D”-style opening in the ground layer and a VIA ring arrangement between the layers to optimize or tune the performance of the transition. Additional features in the interface construction are implemented to guaranty that its microwave and mechanical performance does not degrade in extreme environmental conditions.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2007Date of Patent: May 27, 2014Assignee: Omnitracs, LLCInventors: Jeff Devereux, Fritz Gerd Berger, William A. Johnston, Mohammad Ali Tassoudji, Scott Aldern

Patent number: 8471649Abstract: A compact Ku band microwave diplexer configured as a three port surface mount component on a miniature alumina substrate. Input signals occurring at a common port having frequencies within a first pass band are passed to a second port while being isolated from signals occurring at a third port. Signals occurring at the third port are passed to the common port while being isolated from the signals at the second port. A microstrip dual spur line filter is used combined with open circuit stubs to provide enhanced second harmonic suppression on the transmit side, while using a coupled line microstrip filter on the receive side. This approach allows for compact size and automated component assembly through pick and place and reflow manufacturing techniques.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 2007Date of Patent: June 25, 2013Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Jeff Devereux, Fritz Gerd Berger, William A. Patent number: 7383854Abstract: A solenoid valve, particularly for hot water, has a diaphragm that is disposed with no folds that accumulate air or vapor bubbles. The diaphragm extends in a smooth curve between its outer edge and its inner edge so that the bubbles are directed to the level where the mouth of the inlet conduit enters the valve chamber. Preferably the center axis of the valve chamber and a solenoid system is tipped back to form an obtuse angle with the center axis of the inlet conduit. In addition, the inlet conduit has a portion of the upper inside wall that slopes upwardly in the direction away form the valve chamber and toward the inlet. In this portion, a discharge channel, such as a groove, extends in the direction from the valve chamber to the inlet. The discharge channel helps direct accumulated air and vapor bubbles from the valve chamber out toward the inlet.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 2005Date of Patent: June 10, 2008Assignee: A.u.K Müller GmbH & Co. KGInventors: Gerd Berger, Heinz-Dieter Riedel, Uwe Glaus

Publication number: 20040124382Abstract: A fluid control servo-solenoid valve with self-contained actuating fluid includes a housing configured as a small, elongate body having a pair of lengthwise sides and a pair of widthwise sides each relatively shorter than either of the lengthwise sides, whereby the valve inlet and the valve outlet are each disposed on a respective one of the widthwise outer sides of the housing and the inlet/outlet flow direction extends parallel to the housing longitudinal axis. The fluid control servo-solenoid valve with self-contained actuating fluid also includes a differential piston disposed in the housing such that its movement is perpendicular to the housing longitudinal axis. The pilot valve of the fluid control servo-solenoid valve with self-contained actuating fluid is dismountably secured on the respective smaller outer side of the housing on which the valve outlet is located.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 12, 2003Publication date: July 1, 2004Applicant: A.u.K. Patent number: 6207133Abstract: The invention relates to a new anti-tumoral therapy agent based on liposome-encapsulated cytostatic agents and/or the metabolites thereof. The invention can be used in the pharmaceutical industry and in medicine. The aim of the invention is to build up drug targeting to combat cancer through suitable carrier systems. The invention is characterized by the fact that it clearly increases the concentration of cytostatic agents and residence time in tumors. At the same time, toxic side-effects on the remaining organs are reduced. The inventive agent contains PEG, immuno or immuno/PEG liposome-encapsulated cytostatic agents and/or the metabolites thereof, degradable starch particles and/or gelatin and/or nanoparticles, contrast agents containing iodine, gadolinium or magnetite. A preferred agent is characterized by the cytostatic agent Carboplatinum, encapsulated in SUV-PEG, starch particle Spherex or Gelfoam and the contrast agent Gadolinium-DTPA.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2000Date of Patent: March 27, 2001Assignee: Max-Delbrück-Centrum für Molekulare MedizinInventors: Regina Reszka, Gerd Berger, Uwe Pohlen, Marion Jung
