  • Patent number: 5591186
Abstract: A self-cutting trocar pin is provided near its distal end with active cutting tools, operated manually or motor driven. Therefore, the force which is normally needed to insert the trocar into a body is greatly reduced, and the insertion can be done under control to avoid the risk of injury during penetration of the abdominal wall. A gas flow sensor indicates opto acoustically, in connection with an opening near the distal end of the trocar pin, the penetration of the abdominal wall. The cutting tool of the trocar pin maybe, for example, a disc shaped blade, a chain knife, or manually operated straight blades.

  • Patent number: 4985030
Abstract: The bipolar coagulating instrument has an outer barrel whose distal end is provided with two halves of a first jaw member, said halves being angled relative to the longitudinal axis and being spaced apart from one another. An inner barrel is similarly provided with a second jaw member, which also has halves obliquely angled relative to the longitudinal axis and spaced apart from one another. The second jaw member is axially displaceable towards the first jaw member. At least one of the two jaw members has recesses which are connected to a distally open end of an irrigation passage in the inner barrel. A cutting forceps or the like can be passed through a channel in the inner barrel and through the gap between the two sets of jaw member halves.

  • Patent number: 4683885
Abstract: The applicator for utilization in combination with an endoscope tube comprises a coil connected to a longitudinal passage through a shaft and comprising hollow turns connected to the shaft passage for reception of a sewing thread, whose proximal extremity is passed through a loop projecting from a radial opening at the distal extremity of the shaft, is then drawn through the shaft passage and fastened to the proximal shaft extremity. Tying the single stitch after piercing the tissues is performed by passing the needle axially through the coil and then around the thread and twisting the coil out of the loop formed thereby to form the first half of a knot which is then complemented by the second half of the knot tied in the same way, the knot being tied by subsequently pulling together the two halves.

  • Patent number: 4615332
Abstract: A flexible or partially flexible endoscope comprising several passages and image guides passing through the shaft has the features that its distal omnilaterally steerable shaft is proximally constructed semirigidly or rigidly, is secured in a coupling element situated on the control housing and is traversed by several image guides which have allocated to them at the proximal control housing several monoculars and/or binoculars via rigid or flexible longitudinal elements. It is possible thereby to replace numerous separate endoscopes by a single endoscope.
