  • Patent number: 11334386
Abstract: A method of scheduling an additional new processing task to be executed by a processor which is already executing a predetermined number of processing tasks to be executed within timeslots and in a periodic sequence of timeslots by the processor can include determining the periodicity of execution of each processing task, associating the performance consumption with each processing task, and scheduling the additional new processing task to be executed in a periodic sequence of timeslots so as to satisfy a predetermined performance consumption criterion. Further, the present invention relates to a communication system, computer device, scheduler and a Central Processing Unit (CPU) with a scheduler.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 8031728
Abstract: A method of controlling provision of audio communication on a network comprising at least two endpoints (1, 3), at least one acting as a source and at least one acting as a destination, comprises setting a desired maximum and minimum packet size at the source; setting a desired maximum and minimum packet size at the destination; determining a minimum send packet size as the greater of the desired minimum set by the source and the desired minimum set by the destination; setting a jitter buffer at the destination to an appropriate size for the determined minimum send packet size; and transmitting audio packets of a size greater than or equal to the determined minimum send packet size.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 27, 2004
Date of Patent: October 4, 2011
    Assignee: Siemens Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Ernst Horvath, Karl Klaghofer, Gerd-Dieter Spahl
  • Patent number: 8004978
Abstract: Method for reserving bandwidth in a packet-oriented network, in which a packet-oriented communication link is set up between a plurality of network elements using at least one communication path. In this case, an identification number which is unique to the communication link and is intended to identify the communication paths associated with the communication link is allocated. A bandwidth value for a respective communication path is then determined as the maximum bandwidth required by network elements in this communication path, and bandwidth in the respective communication path is reserved using the bandwidth value.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 24, 2006
Date of Patent: August 23, 2011
Assignee: Siemens Enterprise Communications GmbH & Co. KG
Inventors: Thomas Brandt, Stefan Honold, Markus Messner, Maria Schwarz, Gerd Dieter Spahl

  • Patent number: 5943336
Abstract: In the method for assignment of time slots to a multichannel link, the incoming and outgoing time slots are each provided with an identification which unambiguously defines the sequence. At least one auxiliary variable is determined which, for a given time, relates to the difference between a number of outgoing time slots and incoming time slots for the multichannel link within the respective frames. The method and the switching device ensure a multichannel link with guaranteed bit integrity.
