  • Patent number: 5808497
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of and an apparatus for producing an output signal which is, relative to a periodic input signal, delayed by a predetermined phase angle phi. Initially, the phase angle phi between 0 and 2.pi. is divided by 2.pi. and multiplied by a predetermined positive integer number Z, whereby an integer phase number F between 0 and Z in obtained after rounding. Then, timing-pulse are, beginning with zero, counted between a first and a second input pulse, and an integer relative phase number P is obtained from the number N of the timing-pulses by multiplying by the phase number F, dividing by Z and rounding. Following the second input signal, the timing pulses are, beginning with zero, counted until the relative phase number P in reached. At last, an output pulse is emitted upon reaching the relative phase number P.

  • Patent number: 4986654
Abstract: Method and apparatus for contactless locally resolved instantaneous measurement of the density and/or temperature of a gas in a measurement volume which can have a relatively large area and a relatively small thickness, wherein by laser radiation two rotational transitions of a molecular constituent of the gas excitation in which the excited state has a life time which is substantially shorter than the reciprocal collision frequency in the gas, and wherein the fluorescence intensity or absorption corresponding to the two rotational transitions is measured. From the measured intensities the density and temperature can be calculated.

  • Patent number: 4522183
Abstract: A method for converting a retrograde substance from a liquid to a gaseous state comprising bringing the substance to a defined initial state of pressure and volume, and relaxing to a defined final state. The defined states correspond to regions on the pressure-volume diagram of the substance, the initial state lying to the lower volume side of a boundary defined by the branch of the critical isentrope lying to the greater pressure side of the critical point, and by the stability limit of the substance. The final state lies to the greater volume side of this boundary.

  • Patent number: 4150696
Abstract: A flow passage for a flowable medium is bounded by a wall, and located in e flow passage are one or more devices which suppress the occurrence of such flow conditions in the medium as would tend to cause the development of vibrations in the flowable medium and in the walls surrounding the flow passage.
