    Abstract: A paper web splice tape which is usable to splice a free end of a new paper web to a depleting paper web is formed as a double sided adhesive tape. A continuous high strength adhesive layer is provided on an outer surface of the splice tape and is engageable with the depleting web. The inner side of the splice tape is separated into a high strength adhesive zone, an adhesive free zone and an easily releasable adhesive zone.
