    Abstract: A system for occluding a blood vessel at a site of puncture of a blood vessel, especially after artery catheterization, comprises an oblong occlusive means (13) that has a shank (14) and a compression surface (15) configured thereon as the end face. The shank comprises a continuous bore (17) that extends through the compression surface to accommodate at least one guide means (11) inserted into the blood vessel and is, on the distal end (20) opposite the compression surface, adapted to be fixed on the patient on the skin when the compression surface is advanced towards the site of puncture (2).
