  • Patent number: 5197437
Abstract: In the embodiments described in the specification, an injection-quantity adjustment device is coordinated with each high-pressure outlet of an injection pump to equalize the injection quantities of all high pressure outlets. Each injection-quantity adjustment device has a quantity-control piston, an individually selected choke, and an individually arranged spring that acts on the quantity-control piston.

  • Patent number: 4997345
Abstract: A pressure relief valve for a fuel injection pump of an internal combustion engine contains a valve-closing element capable of moving, by means of an electromagnetic actuation device, between a closed position, in which it rests on a valve seat and closes a pressure relief connection between a pressure chamber and a pressure relief outlet, and an open position where the valve-closing element and a sleeve servo slide gate positioned thereon, separate from a valve seat to create a pressure relief opening for relief of fuel pressure. When the fuel pressure is sufficiently high, the servo slide gate separates from its seat, against the action of a spring, by an additional amount to expose an additional pressure relief connection on the valve-closing element for relief of fuel pressure. Despite only limited motion by the valve-closing element, the pressure relief valve facilitates, with extreme precision, control over the start and the end of fuel injection during the actuation stroke of a coordinated fuel pump.

  • Patent number: 4971290
Abstract: In the embodiments of an injection control valve for the fuel injection of an internal combustion engine described in the specification, an electric actuating device controls a pilot valve which has a sealing surface cooperating with a sealing surface on a valve member in the region of a compression chamber which communicates with a fuel injection pump. Separation of the pilot valve from the valve member when permitted by the actuating device produces a gap between the sealing surfaces so that those sealing surfaces are exposed to the pressure of the fuel in the compression chamber. The fuel pressure acts on the exposed surfaces to enlarge the gap between them, thereby opening a pressure-relieving outlet from the compression chamber.

  • Patent number: 4926824
Abstract: In the embodiment described in the specification, a fuel injection system has a device for proportioning and distributing fuel to the individual cylinders of an internal combustion engine. The proportioning and distribution device has a distribution rotor driven in proportion to the speed of the engine. The distribution rotor is formed with high-pressure channels which communicate with a high-pressure chamber of a pressure pump for selective connection to the fuel injection lines leading to the cylinders of the engine. To control the termination of fuel injection in each cylinder, the distribution rotor has a control valve for connecting the high-pressure channels with the atmosphere. The control valve includes a sealing member actuable by a roller tappet which is mounted in a transverse bore of the distribution rotor. The roller tappet cooperates with a lifting ring surrounding the distribution rotor having camlike projections which are displaceable in the peripheral direction in the rotor housing.
