One method includes detecting, with an electronic processor communicatively coupled to the remote database, a failure of a user session with the remote database. The method includes, in response to determining the failure of the user session, performing, with the electronic processor, an offline detection check for the user session, the offline detection check including a canary check on a known resource related to the remote database. The method includes, in response to the offline detection check indicating that the remote database is offline, setting the user session to read-only, displaying, within a graphical user interface of the user session, an offline indicator, and graphically marking the at least one outstanding request within the user session.

A method is disclosed that includes receiving a first indication of a first operation and a second indication of a second operation from an electronic document application, the first indication of the first operation indicating that the first operation is performed on a first cell of the electronic document application and the second indication of the second operation indicating the second operation is performed on a second cell. The method may include determining a range of cells expression. The method may further include generating code within the recorder application comprising the range of cells expression that when executed within the recorder application causes an operation of the same type as the first operation and the second operation to be performed by the electronic document application on the first cell and the second cell.

The method may further include generating a first line of code, where the first line of code is configured to, when played back by the recorder application, cause a variable to be set to a value of the object; and generating within the recorder application a second line of code that references the object using the variable, where the second line code is configured to, when played back by the recorder application, perform the operation on the object within the electronic document application.

For example, a collaboration database engine of the service may be configured to detect creation of a table through an application associated with the service, the table including one or more columns and rows that form a plurality of cells. The engine may also be configured to determine and optionally reduce a character count of data within each cell, map each cell to a bucket based on the character count of the data, and automatically select an optimal configuration of the table to be provided for display through the application based on the mapping. The optimal configuration may maximize an amount of the data presented within each cell of the table and enable consistent presentation of the table across a variety of platforms and devices.

The determination of whether an item is ready to render may be made before all of the content items are obtained. A layout within the tile(s) for the column for the ready to render items is determined. For example, the items may be placed in tiles based on their content (e.g. text content placed in smaller sized tiles as compared to rich content).
