  • Patent number: 5405723
Abstract: A printing apparatus comprises a reprographic device for producing at least one reprographic master representative of at least a portion of an image, and an image transfer device for transferring at least a portion of the image from at least one reprographic master to a sheet member to form an image on the sheet member, wherein the image transfer device is capable of simultaneous operation with the reprographic device. The apparatus, which utilizes standard printing press architecture, is capable of creating permanent masters, while simultaneously producing copies utilizing previously made masters.

  • Patent number: 4168092
Abstract: The device shown is a dual purpose unloader for the sheet holder bins of a paper distribution system, such as a collator. The bins of a collator are sometimes sloped to allow gravitational settling of the sheets as they are fed into the pockets. The illustrated unloader is an elongated open channel with an internal slidable rod. One set of grippers is mounted on the open channel and another set of grippers on the rod. A spring urges the two sets to move into a gripper closed position, and manual handles provide a means for opening the set of grippers. A mounting frame is available for guiding the unloader into proper registration with the collator pockets if manual placement is not convenient or desired.

  • Patent number: 4080060
Abstract: An improved copy system includes a document feeding apparatus which is effective to move a document to an imaging station. An image on one side of the document is then projected on an electrostatically charged sheet to form a first master. The document is then transferred to an inverting mechanism which is effective to turn the document over and return it to the imaging station. A second master is then formed. The masters are sequentially transferred to a duplicating section which includes a printing unit. The printing unit utilizes the masters to print on one side of a sheet of material as it passes through a printing nip. During a printing operation, blank sheets are sequentially fed from a supply pile through the printing nip and the first master is utilized to print images on first or front sides of the sheets. The sheets which have been printed on only one side are then sequentially deposited in a hopper.

  • Patent number: 4048920
Abstract: A moisture system control apparatus is provided for metering the rate of feed of dampening fluid from a fountain apparatus including a fountain roller to a master on a master cylinder of a lithographic duplicating machine. The control apparatus comprises a linkage for converting continuous rotary input motion to incremental rotation of the fountain roller, and infinitely variable selector apparatus for adjusting the magnitude of the rotation increments employed during a first mode of operation which obtains while printing is in progress.
