  • Patent number: 3949688
Abstract: Apparatus for automatically manufacturing an annular ribbon from stock as, for example, from a reel or roll of such ribbon. A feeding device cuts a length of ribbon dependent upon the preselected size of the annular ribbon, and the apparatus includes a pair of grip members which selectively hold the ends of the ribbon both during the formation of the loop and while the ribbon is being cut from the stock. The grip member rotates so as to cause the two free ends of the ribbon to overlap, thereby permitting the free ends to be secured together as by sewing.
