  • Patent number: 4979350
Abstract: A device for applying and removing threaded caps to and from threaded filler necks of containers includes a centering device, a rotatable grasping member mounted within the centering device for grasping a cap and turning the cap to thread it relative to the filler neck, a driver within the centering device for rotating the grasping member, and a resilient arrangement in a frame to resiliently hold the centering device relative to the frame and permit the centering device to move axially and radially relative to the frame. The frame and the centering device have sufficient clearance between them to permit axial and radial movement of the entering device relative to frame.

  • Patent number: 4821783
Abstract: In the disclosed apparatus, a belt feeds empty containers, into a filling station. At a waiting position in the station of the belt lifts a container with a support having centering rollers that permit horizontal displacement of the empty container while alignment pulleys engage the vertical sides of the container to the rotate the container about its vertical axis so that its fill opening is at the leading edge of the container. A horizontally rotatable plate above the container but ahead of the waiting position sequentially applies an unplugging device and a level sensor to the container. When the belt moves the container to the filling position and when filling device has filled the container, the plate swings the unplugging device around to the filling position and plugs the container's fill opening. Upon further rotation, it positions a second device to apply a safety cap to the container.

  • Patent number: 4804024
Abstract: In the fill apparatus, a container feed belt with a lifting frame at the entry end includes container supporting and centering pulleys for displacing the empty container in the horizontal direction by means of alignment pulleys engaging the container rim in order to rotate the container about its longitudinal axis. A first work station arranged above the container includes a rotary disk rotatable about a vertical axis with circumferentially arranged devices participating in the rotary movement of the rotary disk for unscrewing the screw plugs closing the container fill opening, measuring the moisture content and seeking the container's bunghole. A second work station following the first work station includes a filling device. A third work station having a filling device and a following third work station includes devices for screwing the screw plugs on to the container openings and for mounting safety caps.

  • Patent number: 4643295
Abstract: A loading and unloading apparatus comprises two superimposed conveyors (20, 40) formed by endless conveyor belts and spirally arranged in a vertical supporting frame (10). One conveyor (20) is fixed, while the other conveyor (40) is arranged in a supporting cage (30) rotatable about the vertical conveyor spiral longitudinal axis. The supporting cage (30) is arranged in rotary manner on an extendable and retractable supporting member section (111) of the cylindrical supporting member (11) carrying the supporting frame (10), so that the upper end (44) of conveyor (40) comes to rest above or below the lower end (25) of conveyor (20), in the case of a corresponding rotation of supporting cage (30).

  • Patent number: 4443148
Abstract: An apparatus for unloading bulk material from ships includes a vertical conveyor arranged on a pivotable jib of a rising scaffold bridge. Since in the case of known vertical conveyors it is not possible to take up the bulk material to the very bottom a ship to be unloaded, the apparatus provides a bulk material unloading apparatus for ships in which in the bottom area the vertical conveyor cooperates with a horizontal conveyor arranged in a casing, which is open in the bulk material receiving area along the horizontal conveyor. The bulk material taken up by the horizontal conveyor is conveyed into the receiving area of the vertical conveyor at the end of the conveying zone by a guide plate. This apparatus makes it possible to take up bulk material to the very bottom of the ship to be unloaded, while ensuring a high working efficiency and capacity.
