  • Patent number: 4957013
Abstract: A spindle drive for a coordinate measuring machine, wherein a spindle nut which is fastened within a receiving member is seated on a driven threaded spindle. Intermediate the receiving member and a retaining member, the spindle is fixedly connected with a component which is to be driven, through the interposition of roll bodies for producing a compensating clearance radially relative to the spindle axis and a compensating or equilibrating for wobbling motions of the spindle.

  • Patent number: 4908950
Abstract: A coordinate measuring machine with a base frame which is essentially constructed in the mode of a portal or gantry-type structure which concurrently forms a measuring table, and with a cross-carrier which spans over the measuring table and receives a measuring carriage with a spindle, and which supports itself with one arm on a guideway located in front of the measuring table.

  • Patent number: 4889519
Abstract: A coordinate measuring machine with a drive and braking arrangement for a spindle sleeve which is displaceable in the Z-direction through the intermediary of a threaded spindle. A motor power output or take-off shaft and the threaded spindle, which are arranged axially-parallel relative to each other, are in a driving connection with each other through the interposition of a belt drive with a belt tensioning and supervisory or monitoring arrangement, whereby a brake pulley is flange mounted to the belt pulley for the drive of the threaded spindle, and a braking clamp or a disc brake acts on the brake shoes.

  • Patent number: 4794212
Abstract: A protective device for a feed unit, especially for a spindle sleeve of a measuring machine, whereby the feed unit is surrounded by a jacket constituted of a multiplicity of springs, which touch the feed unit in the event of a collision and thereby produce electrical contacts, and in which the lower or bottom part of the feed unit is enclosed by a protective shield. The protective shield is constituted of individual screen parts which are displaceable or swingable out of their inoperative position, and which collectively enclose the lower part, wherein the screen parts are maintained in their inoperative position by means of magnets, and in which the screen parts in their tilted position touch at least one spring and thereby become electrically contactive.

  • Patent number: 4742621
Abstract: A safety device on a quill with a sensing head fixably connected thereto interrupts a positioning motion of the quill in case of a collision of the sensing head. For this purpose there is fastened to the quill a mounting plate 6, on which rests a bearing plate on at least three balls 20. The sensing head is fixable to the bearing plate. Several switches and switching cams assigned to them are offset relative to the balls on the bearing plate. In case of a collision of the sensing head, the bearing plate is deflected relative to the mounting plate, thereby causing at least one switch to interrupt the driving motion of the quill.

  • Patent number: 4741112
Abstract: A coordinate measuring machine has supporting members movable in a plurality of coordinate directions which are each made of welded steel construction. Surfaces of the supporting members are covered by sheet metal shells which are spaced by a small distance away from the supporting members and form an air space thereover. This reduces the adverse influences of temperature induced expansions and contractions.

  • Patent number: 4651439
Abstract: The invention relates to a quill for coordinate measuring machines of square cross-section and guided by a total of eight bearing parts within a guiding part. Three bearing parts which bear against quill surfaces are located adjacent the upper and in the lower ends of the guide surfaces in the guiding part. Two more bearing parts are provided in a Z direction approximately between the upper and lower bearing parts. Due to the special configuration of the bearing parts relative to each other and the horizontally acting springs inserted in certain bearing parts the twisting of the quill is determined and also the specified quill twisting accuracy of two angular seconds max. is obtained.

  • Patent number: 4651426
Abstract: A portal type coordinate measuring machine includes a column on each side of a measuring table which is movable by a synchronous belt drive connected to each column. A drive motor is centrally mounted on a bridge portion overlying the columns and it drives a horizontal shaft which extends to each column and effects the rotation of a drive pinion which engages a gear belt which extends parallel to each column and is carried by the column. The drive includes a toothed belt or gear belt which is disposed parallel to the guiding ways for the columns and has its ends firmly clamped on the bridge and an active central portion which extends around a drive pinion which is tensioned on respective sides of the drive pinion by tension rolls.

  • Patent number: 4483209
Abstract: A spindle drive for measuring devices comprises a threaded spindle with a nut threadably engaged on the spindle and with one of them being rotatable to cause displacement relative to the other along a longitudinal direction in relation to the spindle. A nut carries a slide portion with vertically extending posed blind bores carrying bushings with ball races therein. A measuring carriage is affixed and forms part of a support portion which extends over the slide and the measuring carriage portion extend below the slide. A drive pin is carried by the support portion and the measuring portion and it is confined for movement within the respective bushings. A screw bolt is connected between the support portion and the slide and it may be threadably adjusted to permit vertical adjustable positioning of the slide relative to the measuring carriage and the support portion.

  • Patent number: 4483079
Abstract: A coordinate measuring apparatus comprises a frame substantially formed by a rectangular prismatic body and an indexing rotary table which is connected to the front side portion of the prismatic body to form an L-shaped structure. Above the prismatic body, a cantilever arm projects over the rotary table. The cantilever arm is movable at its level, perpendicularly to its longitudinal axis and carries a tail spindle which is equipped with a measuring head. The clear construction of the apparatus which is easy to survey and with its overhead guideways, is an ideal arrangement for applying a linear measuring system.
