  • Patent number: 6404741
Abstract: A control device attached to both a primary packet device (such as a PC-based packet phone) and a network (e.g., telephone network or packet network) provides improved reliability for packet telephony and network maintenance. The control device may have its own network address separate from that of the packet telephony device. The control device enables monitoring of the operation of the packet telephony device and basic maintenance, such as re-booting of that device if it is no longer responding to input commands.

  • Publication number: 20010039615
Abstract: A broker application server for facilitating communication between one or more senders and one or more receivers over a digital packet network. Each receiver receives data in a preferred format. Information identifying the preferred data format of each receiver is stored in a database in the broker application server. The broker application server receives digital packets addressed to a receiver. It extracts data and address information from the packet and optionally decrypts the data. It examines the data to identify the data format. If the data is in the preferred format of the addressed receiver, the broker application server optionally encrypts the data, formats it into a packet, and transmits it to the appropriate receiver.

  • Patent number: 6137874
Abstract: Disclosed is a capability for differentiated in-network or off-network call treatment (e.g., different call features or services) on a per-call basis using the value of the carrier identification code (CIC) passed from an access provider to a second carrier in a call set-up message associated with an incoming call. In addition, the caller selection information (CSI) parameter may be used in conjunction with the CIC to provide differentiated call treatment. The CIC and CSI parameters together provide information about the call and the caller which can be used for, e.g., directed marketing activities aimed at non-presubscribed callers using the second carrier's network on a per-call basis.

  • Patent number: 6104704
Abstract: A billing method and server for gathering and processing billing information for Internet telephony connections. Originating and terminating clients and Internet Service Providers ("ISPs") are identified by the server from information contained in digital packets. The digital packets also identify the beginning and ending time of the connection, as well as enhancements chosen for the particular connection, and choices of information to be displayed during the connection. The billing server transmits selected information to each client during the connection, such information including packet routing, packet density, elapsed time of connection, and available and selected enhancements. The server constructs a billing detail for each connection and constructs a billing record for each ISP and client over a specific time period. The server periodically forwards each billing record to its associated ISP.

  • Patent number: 5898757
Abstract: An operator service terminal system connected to a telephone system switch retains the identifications of calling subscribers. Each operator terminal includes memory for storing at least one more subscriber identification than the number of loops served by that terminal. Once an operator services a call, it is not necessary to signal the telephone system switch to identify the caller if the identification is still in memory. In emergency situations, if a call is terminated before a caller can convey the location of the emergency, the calling party identification information can be used to call the caller back or can be relayed to emergency personnel for appropriate action.

  • Patent number: 4715547
Abstract: A drive body (4) which is rotationally driven via a shaft (6) projects into a fixed housing (1) closed by a cover (2). The annular-gap-shaped grinding chamber (M) formed between the housing (1) and the drive body (4) is partially filled with grinding balls, for example to 75%, and grinding stock flows continuously through it. The grinding stock enters from a product inlet (8) via the inlet gap (7) into the grinding chamber and leaves the latter through the discharge gap (3) which does not let through the grinding balls. The grinding chamber (M) is continuously widened from the mouth of the inlet gap (7) up to a deflection point (U).This results in a better starting behavior and a substantially more effective grinding, because a considerably higher grinding ball filling ratio can be achieved at the same circulating time of the grinding balls.

  • Patent number: 4629133
Abstract: A ball mill stator providing a milling space between a housing and a cover and a ring-like displacing body in the milling space with a V-shaped radial cross-section forming part of the rotor. The material being milled together with the balls flows around the displacing body from a feed inlet to an outlet along spiral paths. The milling media kept back at the milling gap are moved through a duct into an annular space and from this point through conveying ducts of an impeller outwards and re-enter the milling space at a small distance above the feed inlet. The impeller is sealed between the rotor and stator and is powered by a motor, or by a variable speed drive, run at a speed controlled by readings taken from different parts of the mill system such that the milling media is evenly distributed in the material being milled by which they are moved along making the milling operation more uniform and efficient.

  • Patent number: 4304362
Abstract: A ball mill having a housing formed with at least one inner conically cross-sectioned annular wall, in which a displacement body having a conically cross-sectioned annular outer surface is mounted. The housing and displacement body are relatively rotatable and their conical surfaces spaced respectively from each other to define therebetween an annular gap having a conical cross-section for receipt and grinding of solids, liquid and grinding balls, relatively.

  • Patent number: 4105066
Abstract: A heat exchanger with a scraping cooling arrangement for fluid matter which tends to adhere to the heat exchanging surface. A pot-shaped casing is sealed by an end-plate. The casing provides for concentric interchanging of heat-exchanging parts with heat-exchanging agent flowing therethrough. At least three annular chambers are provided for processed matter to pass through. A power-driven stripping device consisting of stripping branches protruding axially and unsupported into the annular chambers with scraper bands fitting closely to the heat-exchanging surfaces, is rotatable about the axis of the casing. At least one annular chamber is, at one end, connected to the nearest outer annular chamber and is connected at the other end, to the nearest inner chamber in a circuit. The annular chambers are separated, however, in other respects, and at least one seal is formed by a gasket rotating with the stripping device.
