Patents by Inventor Gerhard Döll

Gerhard Döll has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Patent number: 7446463
Abstract: The invention relates to contact-making of dielectrically impeded discharge lamps by means of a mechanical procedure with plastic deformation of a contact surface 17. It is thus possible to dispense with thermal steps such as soldered connections or welded connections and to therefore make savings in terms of time and on the complexity of the apparatus used.

  • Patent number: 7025472
Abstract: A coupling element (2) is proposed for the combining of at least two elongate lamps with in each case two ends. For this purpose, the coupling element (2) has a continuous receptacle area which is provided for receiving an end of each lamp. The receptacle area comprises a reflector (6) in order to reduce the luminance decrease in the region between the lamp ends. With one or a plurality of coupling elements according to the invention in conjunction with two or more elongate lamps, illumination systems having different luminous lengths can be realized in a modular manner.

  • Patent number: 6984930
Abstract: A dielectric barrier discharge lamp having electrodes arranged on the wall of the discharge vessel has a VUV/VIS reflection layer (6) made of a material with a high secondary electron emission coefficient on at least a part of the inner wall of the discharge vessel. A luminescent material layer (7) is in turn applied on the VUV/VIS reflection layer (6). Moreover, at least one partial region (8) without luminescent material is provided in the luminescent material layer (7), this at least one partial region (8) partially uncovering the underlying VUV/VIS reflection layer (6) and additionally being arranged at least in direct proximity to one or more electrodes (4) of the lamp. As a result, the ignition behavior of the lamp is improved, in particular during ignition in darkness.

  • Patent number: 6960874
Abstract: A dielectric barrier discharge lamp (1) having a tubular discharge vessel (2) and a luminescent material layer on at least a part of the inner wall of the discharge vessel (2) and having elongate electrodes (3) is provided with a coating (10) on a partial region of the inner wall at least at one end of the tubular discharge vessel (2), which coating additionally covers an end of at least one elongate electrode (3) . The material of the coating (10) has a high secondary electron emission coefficient. As a result, the ignition behavior of the lamp is improved, in particular during ignition in darkness.

  • Patent number: 6924599
Abstract: In order to improve the starting of a dielectric barrier discharge lamp it is proposed to provide elements for igniting an auxiliary discharge inside the exhaust tube (5) of the lamp.

  • Patent number: 6777878
Abstract: A dielectric barrier discharge lamp has elongated electrodes (3) that are arranged on the inside of the wall of the discharge vessel (2) and are covered by a dielectric layer (4). Arranged on the outside of the wall of the discharge vessel (2) is an electrically conductive means (8) that is limited with reference to the longitudinal axis to a subregion (B) of the discharge vessel wall, for example a metal ring. The startability of the dielectric barrier discharge lamp when first being started or after long operational pauses is improved thereby.

  • Patent number: 6605899
Abstract: The discharge tube (1) of a dielectric barrier discharge lamp is closed off in a gas-tight manner with the aid of a disk-like closure element (7) but without the use of joining elements. For this purpose, the discharge tube (1) has a constriction (10), which surrounds the edge of the disk-like closure element (7) in the form of a ring.

  • Patent number: 6271743
Abstract: To simplify coil production, in particular coils used for high-voltage transformers, a conductor is wound on to a winding form. The conductor comprises a plurality of conductor portions. The conductor portions overlap one another partially and are insulated from one another. A conductor and a winding arrangement can be produce with this method.
