Abstract: Methods, devices, and computer readable media for switching communications from a first messaging protocol/service to a second messaging protocol/service by use of messaging information being embedded in a header of a first message of the first messaging protocol/service to enable the recipient to contact the sender over the second messaging protocol/service, is provided.

Abstract: A viewable map region of a map is visually displayed in a display, and a plurality of point of interest (POI) indicators are presented in the viewable region. One or more off-map indicators are also presented in the viewable region, where each off-map indicator indicates a POI indicator outside of the viewable region but within a predetermined range. In response to detecting a forward signal when a cursor is on a current POI or off-map indicator, the viewable region is panned in the display in the upwards direction when the cursor is on a topmost POI or off-map indicator. Otherwise, the cursor is repositioned in an upwards direction onto a next POI or off-map indicator in the viewable region. The reverse occurs with respect to detecting of a reverse positioning signal.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining priority of data in a database managed by a computing device are provided. The data comprises a list of events, the computing device comprising a processing unit interconnected with a memory device and a display device. Context data is processing at the processing unit to determine a priority ranking for each of the items, wherein processing the context data to determine a priority ranking comprises at least one of processing attendance data, location, event data, and telephone record data. Respective areas of the display device are controlled to provide visual representations of each of the events, each respective area controlled according to the priority ranking.

Abstract: An electronic meeting is attended by participants with touch-sensitive display devices. An electronic meeting server allows a group of selected participants to edit a shared document during the meeting. Another group of participants may cast votes during the meeting using objects at least partially created during the meeting. Each participant has an active stylus for interfacing with a touch-sensitive display device during the meeting. The active stylus has a stylus identification signal associated with each participant. The stylus identification signal allows for selection and management of the editing and voting groups and allows multiple participants to share a touch-sensitive display device.

Abstract: A touch-sensitive display indicates a low energy storage level of an active stylus by changing a visual characteristic of a digital ink line segment defined by the active stylus and rendered on the touch-sensitive display. Adding additional energy to the active stylus restores the visual appearance of newly drawn digital ink to a user selected setting. Adding additional energy to the active stylus also restores the visual appearance of the digital ink displayed after determination that the active stylus had a low energy storage level.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods and devices for interacting with a visual timeline of an application. The method comprises displaying on a display a visual timeline having one or more visual elements each representing an action performed in respect of the application, each action corresponding to a save point or an incremental change to the application, wherein the visual elements are arranged in a chronological order in which the actions occurred. An application state for display within an editor user interface can be selected using the visual timeline.

Abstract: A generic IM device/server protocol permits a single implementation of a IM application on client devices for communicating with different enterprise IM servers types. The protocol defines a server maintained tag to identify the currency of a contact list it is managing for a client device. The client device receives and persists the tag and provides it at login. The server automatically sends a contact list update only if the tag indicates the client devices contact list instance is not current. Presence updates may also be sent automatically at login and the client device need not separately request contact list or presence updates at login. The client device may be pre-provisioned with respective graphics, text and server capabilities for multiple server types. A specific IM configuration may be selected in response to service information.

Abstract: Methods and devices are provided for generating and publishing multi-media information associated with actions performed on a mobile communication device. A publishing application monitors actions performed on the mobile communication device and enables selection of at least one of the actions. Content associated with selected actions may be stored and data associated with at least one of the selected actions and the content associated with at least one selected action may be extracted. The multi-media information may be displayed on a graphical user interface in a pre-selected format, such as a chronologically arranged list. Users may preview and modify the multi-media information before publication through a pre-selected communication service. The multi-media information may be published by selecting an icon, including an image identifying the pre-selected communication service.

Abstract: Methods are provided for monitoring and adjusting performance of a mobile computing device having a windowing system. The windowing system is advantageously employed for both purposes. It generates performance data related to an application executed by a processor of the device and provides the performance data to a DFVS module of the device, which in turn determines the operating point of the device based on that data. As a consequence, the DFVS refrains from scaling-down the operating frequency of the processor in certain cases wherein idleness of the processor might provoke such a scale-down by a DVFS module that was informed only of application-agnostic performance data. The avoidance of inappropriate scale-downs may, for instance, improve the perceived smoothness of a progression of images presented on a display unit of the device.

A first mobile station has first communications applications and a first PIN and a second mobile station has second communications applications and a second PIN. The method includes sending an invitation including the first PIN from the first mobile station to the second mobile station using one of the first communications applications, and sending an acceptance including the second PIN from the second mobile station to the first mobile station using one of the second communications applications. The method further includes creating first messages including the second PIN and sending them to the second mobile station through the wireless network, and creating second messages including the first PIN and sending them to the first mobile station through the wireless network. The routing server routes the messages based on the PINs.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method and apparatus for changing a property of a stylus input to host electronic device. In response to a trigger event, a stylus palette is displayed on the screen of device in proximity to a stylus location. The location and orientation of the stylus palette may also depend on a user's palm position or the orientation of the device. This enables a property of the stylus to be selected in response to stylus interaction with the stylus palette. Very little stylus movement is required to make the selection due to the proximity of the palette. The trigger event may be, for example, a press of a button of the stylus, detection of a stylus position within a range of heights above the screen of the host electronic device, or detection of a stylus motion gesture such as a shake, tap, or twist.

The step-wise indications can, for instance, range from an availability level of “currently active” to several levels of nonavailability. The device and method can be incorporated into an existing messaging environment.

Abstract: A method of managing inbound communications received by a roaming wireless communications device entails enabling a user of the roaming wireless communications device to activate an inbound communications filter having filter criteria based on a current location of a sender of an inbound communication. Once the wireless device has determined whether the inbound communication satisfies the filter criteria, the wireless device notifies the user that the inbound communication has been received provided that the inbound communication satisfies the filter criteria.

Abstract: A wireless local area network (WLAN) client device is able to store one or more transient connection profiles. A transient connection profile of a WLAN may be overwritten by a transient connection profile of another WLAN. A transient connection profile may be automatically deleted from the client device without user action having been taken to explicitly delete the transient connection profile.
