  • Patent number: 4770543
Abstract: A device in a motor vehicle for indicating the outside temperature has a speed sensor in addition to an outside-temperature sensor. The device has a memory for storing a detected temperature when a speed signal drops below a threshold value. The current temperature is then displayed if it is less than the stored detected temperature plus a pre-determined amount; otherwise, the stored detected temperature is displayed. When the vehicle speed rises above a second threshold value, a delay time determiner determines the delay time dependent on the vehicle speed, and a time delay is activated. The time delay causes the indicator to display the current temperature upon expiration of a period of time equal to the delay time following the activation of the time delay.

  • Patent number: 4211831
Abstract: A battery with at least one cell containing an electrolyte liquid, in which the cell is adapted to be connected with the atmosphere by way of a fill-in venting connection determining its liquid level and by way of a separate fill-in connection for the filling in of electrolyte liquid and for the refilling of distilled water as well as by way of a control opening for the insertion of a testing device for checking the operating condition, and in which the free flow cross section of the fill-in connection is dimensioned so narrowly that a liquid seal closing off the fill-in connection gas-tight will form under the influence of the capillary action and of the excess pressure which will be established during the fill-in operation into the cell, when the liquid enters the opening of the fill-in venting connection which terminates in the cell; a control opening which can be restoringly enlarged in its cross section is disposed in an elastic wall and is separate from the fill-in connection and essentially closed as s

  • Patent number: 4113925
Abstract: A battery with at least one filler connection for electrolyte liquid, in which the battery interior space is adapted to be connected with the atmosphere by way of at least one venting connection and the opening of the venting connection which terminates in the battery interior space is located geodetically approximately at the height of the intended liquid level; a fill-in chamber is interconnected between the opening of the filler connection which terminates in the atmosphere, and the battery interior space while the fill-in chamber is connected with the battery interior space by means of a chamber connection whose opening terminating in the battery interior space is located geodetically above the intended liquid level; the free cross section of the chamber connection is dimensioned so small that a liquid seal closing off the chamber connection in a gas-tight manner will form under the influence of the excess pressure which will establish itself in the battery interior space above the liquid level during the
