The sound absorption ring is formed as a ring jacket provided with a lower end plate that slopes downward and is permanently joined with the inner shell of the chimney, and with an upper end plate that slopes upward toward the inner shell. Ribs are joined to the inner shell of the chimney inside the annular jacket.
