The fixed section of the tray (3) acts as a catch tray for documents processed by the machine (1) and has a drive mechanism (6, 7, 19) which drives a sliding panel (5) which extends downwards into the fixed section of the tray (3) and which pushes the stack of documents (8) from the fixed section of the tray (3) into the extended movable section of the tray (4).
