  • Patent number: 4622748
Abstract: In guide rollers (2) for band saws, especially for sawing meat and bones, the contact surface (4) is very quickly fouled or soiled by greasy fat, bone meal, etc., which has a disadvantageous effect on the power transmission and the guidance of the band saw blade (3). The contact surface (4) of the guide roller rim which guides the band saw blade, is provided with open passages (7) reaching to the side surfaces (5) of the guide roller rim. Fat and other contaminating material is pressed by the band saw blade into the passages and is flung away from the rotating guide roller (2), whereby a reliable operation of the band saw is assured.

  • Patent number: 4535574
Abstract: A sanding tool (8) or surface finishing tool for sanding or finishing a work piece such as profiled moldings or edges of panel type work pieces has a foam material body (17), at least one surface of which has a contour corresponding to the cross-sectional shape of the surface to be sanded or finished. A sanding or finishing belt (11) is secured to the contoured surface of the foam material body. The tool is produced in a simple, economical manner by casting or molding. For this purpose a profiled body having a surface configuration corresponding to that of the work piece is inserted into a mold. A length of sanding belt or sandpaper is inserted into the mold so that the rough surface faces the profiled body. The mold is then filled with a foam material which, after curing, is intimately bonded to the sanding belt or paper with the desired contour.

  • Patent number: 4535965
Abstract: A molded body having a profiled cross-section, such as a grinding or polishing tool, is cast in a mold by pouring foaming synthetic material into a molding cavity closable on all sides except for holes in the end walls of the molding cavity through which a contouring insert member having a profiled surface extends to pass through the entire molding cavity and possibly even through several molding cavities arranged in axial alignment with one another. A sealing device (22) is provided adjacent each end wall for closing and sealing the profiled gap between the contouring insert member and the hole in the adjacent end wall. The sealing devices are adjustable to differently profiled inserts and assure that a molded body or tool is produced which has precise, prismatic and parallel surfaces and edges.

  • Patent number: 4417675
Abstract: Apparatus for melting and applying meltable adhesive in which a separate melting insert including a melting wall is interposed between the melting chamber and the application device. The melting wall is formed with projections or cones, and channels for passing molten adhesive to the nozzle body of the application device. A piston in the melting chamber presses a unit of adhesive against the melting wall. The melting wall is independently heated by a heater and controlling temperature sensor. The nozzle body and melting insert/melting wall are formed of different metallic materials, the latter being made of light metal alloy for better thermal conducting response. The melting insert forming the melting wall is removable to facilitate the cleaning and maintenance.

  • Patent number: 4232064
Abstract: A portion of a melting or fusing adhesive in the form of a cartridge is melted in a melting chamber and supplied under pressure to an adhesive applying device. The latter includes a melting chamber with a heated facing wall having exit holes therein through which the molten adhesive may be pressed out by a piston movable in the melting chamber by way of a power drive. The starting and stopping of the adhesive supply is controlled by the movement of a work piece past the adhesive applying device.

  • Patent number: 3939611
Abstract: Apparatus for feeding workpieces through a machine employing a workpiece guide and at least one sensor for determining the dimensions of the workpiece. The workpiece guide applies pressure to the workpiece in accordance with the dimensions of the workpiece as determined by the sensor which includes one or more vertical or arcuate sensing members contacting the workpieces and moving in accordance with the dimensions thereof. Switches for controlling a driving motor of the workpiece guide are actuated by control cams responsive to the movements of the sensor.
