  • Patent number: 4896584
Abstract: A piston-cylinder assembly wherein in the cylinder housing there is provided a cylinder chamber extending in axial direction, in which cylinder chamber a piston is movably guided in axial direction. Both the piston and also the cylinder chamber have a cross section which is different from a circular shape. A permanent-magnet piece is arranged fixedly in the area of the outer circumference of the piston. A switch arranged in the area of the linear path of movement of the permanent-magnet piece is provided on the outside on the cylinder housing, which switch can be operated without contact by the magnetic field of the permanent-magnet piece.

  • Patent number: 4762052
Abstract: It is a question of a multi-part piston more especially for use in double acting cylinder actuators. The piston has two piston halves that are mounted on a piston rod so as to be symmetrical about a contact surface between them. Each piston half has a metallic inner member with a radial anchoring projection, as for example in the form of a flange. On the inner member there is a molded casing of synthetic resin. Each piston half has a piston seal arranged in a circumferential groove in the outer surface of the casing.

  • Patent number: 4759265
Abstract: The invention provides a piston and cylinder unit whose piston rod is sealed by a supporting and sealing arrangement arranged in an end cap of the unit. This supporting and sealing arrangement comprises a sealing portion made integrally with a stripper portion and joined therewith to form a sleeve-like sealing member surrounding the piston rod having the said portions at its ends. A lubricant-permeable supporting bushing encompassing the piston rod is mounted in the sealing member between the sealing and stripper portions and receives lubricant from lubricant reservoirs in the part of the sealing member between the stripper and sealing portions.

  • Patent number: 4700616
Abstract: The invention relates to a cylinder and piston unit with a cylinder tube closed at both its ends by cylinder end caps. An axially moving piston in the cylinder has a piston rod extending sealingly through at least one end cap. On the outer face of the tube there are four longitudinal means such as longitudinal ribs or round tie rods extending in the axial direction of the tube and equally spaced in the circumferential direction about the tube. Furthermore there is a mounting yoke for pivotally carrying the cylinder and piston unit and having at least two, and more especially four, generally diametrally opposite clamping jaws with trunnions on two of them. The mounting means furthermore constitutes an annular structure encircling the tube. At their ends the clamping jaws have gripping faces adapted to engage and grip the longitudinal ribs or rods on opposite sides thereof so that the tube is held firmly by clamping the jaws together.

  • Patent number: 4699402
Abstract: Mounting boards for supporting and connecting fluid power components are secured together with dovetail clips to make up arrays with a large number of terminals. There are grooves in end faces of the boards so as to define marginal lands which are engaged by the clips. The lands of adjacent boards form a complete dovetail structure to be gripped by a clip with a self-locking action. The contiguous faces of adjacent boards may have locating means such as pins and recesses. The boards may have spigots protruding from them for connection with piping. Venting ports are provided with muffler caps.

  • Patent number: 4687189
Abstract: A short-stroke clamping element for exerting a clamping or holding force on a workpiece has a bar-like form with its length direction normal to the direction of the clamping force to be produced. There is an internal pressure space that is put under pressure for operation of the device. The pressure space is sealed off peripherally and extends essentially along the full length of the clamping element. At least one of the sides of the element forms a claiming face constituted by a wall that is able to be moved outwards by admitting compressed air to the pressure space.

  • Patent number: 4537113
Abstract: A braking device for a fluid power actuator, which braking device automatically brakes the movement of a piston rod in response to a failure in the supply of pressurized fluid to the fluid power actuator. Ball elements are urged radially inwardly between a pair of converging surfaces to cause a drive ring member having a ramp surface thereon to move into engagement with a brake ring to effect a contracting thereof into engagement with the piston rod.

  • Patent number: 4193423
Abstract: A multiway valve which includes an axially positionable regulating member therein. The regulating member includes a diaphragm sealingly connected thereto which has a sealing lip extending radially therefrom which contacts the inner valve wall and an elastically deformable annular projection which is fixedly positioned in contact with the valve body which suspends the diaphragm within the central bore of the valve body. The diaphragm includes a surface engageable with a valve seat of the valve to contact fluid communication between tapped bores in the multiway valve.

  • Patent number: 4088061
Abstract: In a piston/cylinder assembly in which the power strokes of the piston are damped, there is a pressure chamber on one side of the piston and an external pipe which serves for the discharge and supply of pressure medium. A restricted zone is provided in a pipe which connects the external pipe to the pressure chamber for limiting the flow of motive gas therethrough. A return pipe connects the external pipe with the pressure chamber and has a one-way valve which closes the return pipe when the pressure medium is discharged from the pressure chamber and opens it when pressure medium is supplied from the external pipe. A connecting line extends from the external pipe to the pressure chamber, and the piston has a member projecting therefrom engageable in the connecting line when the damping movement begins to close that line.
