  • Publication number: 20040237708
Abstract: A pedal crank drive for a bicycle is described with two pedal cranks (2) which are torsionally rigidly connected with each other via a bottom bracket axle (1), comprising a chainwheel (3) which is held in a rotatable manner and is limited on a stop on a bearing nose (5) of one of the two pedal cranks (2) and at least one compression spring (12) extending in the circumferential direction between said pedal crank (2) and the chainwheel (3) bearing an abutment (14) for the compression spring (12). In order to provide advantageous constructional conditions it is proposed that the pedal crank (2) carrying the chainwheel (3) engages with a nose (16) which projects against the chainwheel (3) in a recess (17) of the chainwheel (3) which forms rotation limit stops (18, 19) for said pedal crank (2) in both circumferential directions.

  • Publication number: 20040231455
Abstract: A pedal for a bicycle is described, comprising a sleeve (4) which is rotatably held on a pedal axle (1) and comprises a pedal forming a forefoot support (8) and a metatarsus support (9) which is joined to the pedal and is inclined with respect to the forefoot support (8). In order to provide advantageous constructional conditions it is proposed that the pedal consists of a pedal bracket (3) with two legs (10, 11) of which the leg (11), which is at the rear with respect to the foot support, is extended towards the metatarsus support (9).

  • Patent number: 6513408
Abstract: A pedal for a bicycle is formed by a pedal frame (3) which is rotatably held on a pedal shaft (1) and is swivelable to a limited extent on a support (4) about an axis (5) transversal to the pedal shaft (1), with the support (4) consisting of a sleeve (6) which is rotatably held on the pedal shaft (1) and comprises mutually diametrically opposite radial noses (7) for the transversal axis (5). In order to provide advantageous constructional conditions, the sleeve (6) carries a stop (9) for the pedal frame (3) which projects axially over the pedal shaft (1) and the pedal frame (3) forms a receiving opening (10) for a rubber-elastic ring (11) which can be inserted on the axially projecting stop (9) of the sleeve (6).

  • Patent number: 6161452
Abstract: A pedal crank drive for a bicycle, comprises a shaft (3) extending through a bearing housing (4), a chain wheel (8) having at least one gear rim (9), where the hub (7) of the chain wheel is rotatably mounted with respect to the shaft (3), and a power transmission spring (10) supported on the one hand on the shaft (3) and on the other hand on the hub (7) of the chain wheel (8) and disposed inside the bearing housing (4). The power transmission spring (10) consist of separate, individual spring elements (11) distributed around the periphery of the shaft (3) and each spring element is supported on the hub (7) of the chain wheel (8) and on the shaft (3).

  • Patent number: 5279524
Abstract: In a pedal crank drive for a bicycle, comprising two pedal cranks (4a, 4b) which are non-rotatably interconnected by a pedal crank shaft (3), a chain sprocket (5), which has at least one gear ring (6) and is mounted to be rotatable relative to the pedal crank shaft (3), and at least one force-transmitting spring (10), which is disposed between the chain sprocket (5) and that pedal crank (4a) which is adjacent to the chain sprocket (5), and said spring (10) is adapted to be biased by a forward rotation of the pedal cranks (4a, 4b), it is proposed to improve the distribution of the torque during a revolution of the chain sprocket in that a damping spring (15), which is prestressed in a sense to bias the force-transmitting spring (10), is provided between the chain sprocket (5) and the adjacent pedal crank (4a).
