  • Patent number: 5245922
Abstract: A screen printing machine with one or more printing units each of which has a screen and at least one squeegee above a portion of the path for a movable web of paper or the like. The positions of the screens are adjustable by carriages which support the frames for the screens and receive motion from sets of motors which respond to signals from a computer. The latter receives signals from cameras which are adjacent the path of movement of the web and monitor alignment marks (if any) on the web and/or the position of printed matter on the web.

  • Patent number: 5154010
Abstract: A sheet drying apparatus wherein the horizontal upper reach of an endless foraminous conveyer transports a series of sheets to be dried between a main suction chamber below and a plenum chamber above the upper reach. The drying station between the two chambers is flanked by two additional suction chambers which extend transversely of the direction of advancement of sheets and serve to attract the sheets to the upper side of the upper reach of the conveyor. A blower is provided to draw air from the main suction chamber and to admit the withdrawn air into channels for admission into the plenum chamber. The sheets are directly or indirectly heated by a stationary heating device between the main plenum chamber and the upper reach of the conveyor, by one or more heating elements in the plenum chamber, by heating elements in the main suction chamber and by heating elements in the channels.

  • Patent number: 5050496
Abstract: A flat bed screen printing machine wherein the material to be printed is movable in stepwise fashion with or relative to an assembly including a flat bed at one side and a screen at the opposite side of the path for the material. The material moves with the assembly during application of paste and moves slowly relative to the assembly while the latter moves rearwardly to its starting position. The slow movement of the material serves to move its passer marks to optimum positions with reference to a detector. One or more squeegees are adjacent the screen. The squeegee(s) are mounted on the assembly for movement relative to the screen.

  • Patent number: 4998470
Abstract: A screen printing machine with at least one screen printing unit having a flat screen which is inclined relative to the horizontal so as to reduce the floor space requirements and is reciprocable up and down by a rack and pinion drive. A drying arrangement for the webs or sheets which are treated in the machine is disposed at a level below the screen, and each unit has a platform which is adjacent a web- or sheet-supporting cylinder to facilitate immediate inspection of the web or sheets downstream of the printing station between the screen and the cylinder. The latter is indexible about a fixed axis.

  • Patent number: 4964335
Abstract: A printing method which is practiced with a flat bed screen printing machine wherein the material to be printed is intermittently movable with or relative to an assembly including a flat bed at one side and a screen at the opposite side of the path for the material. The material moves with the assembly during application of paste and moves slowly relative to the assembly while the latter moves rearwardly to its starting position. The slow movement of the material serves to move its passer marks to optimum positions with reference to a detector. One or more squeegees are adjacent the screen. The screen can move relative to the squeegee(s), or the squeegee(s) can be mounted on the assembly for movement relative to the screen.

  • Patent number: 4628814
Abstract: A printing machine for webs of paper or the like has a flat horizontal screen which is stationarily but removably mounted in the machine frame above the path of intermittent longitudinal movement of the web. A hollow air-permeable counterpressure cylinder is mounted below the path of the web and is reciprocable relative to the screen with a carriage which further supports a printing medium applying unit at a level above the screen. The cylinder is rotated during the printing stroke while a first squeegee of the applying unit forces printing medium through the screen and into contact with the web. During the next-following return stroke, the cylinder is held against rotation and a second squeegee of the applying unit spreads out the printing medium on the screen. At the same time, the web is advanced forwardly through a preselected distance.

  • Patent number: 4628620
Abstract: Apparatus for contact drying or cooling of printed sheets in or adjacent to a screen printing machine has a rotor which is driven to rotate about a horizontal axis and carries a set of radially outwardly extending vane-like flat suction boxes each having a plate-like foraminous supporting member to which one or more objects to be dried and/or cooled are attracted by suction during travel of the respective box along a portion of one orbit or during one or more full orbits about the axis of the rotor. The suction boxes are connected to a source of compressed air when the objects on their supporting members reach the ejecting station. The rotor can carry a box-shaped nozzle with orifices oriented to direct jets of compressed air against the objects on the adjacent supporting members. Objects can be supplied by hand or by a conveyor and the treated objects gather in a receptacle or are deposited on a take-off conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4619050
Abstract: Apparatus for drying webs or sheets of moist material which issues from a printing machine and is transported continously or stepwise to be acted upon by ultraviolet light issuing from one or more lamps mounted at a level above the path of movement of the material. The lamp or lamps are pivotable, reciprocable and/or otherwise movable in and counter to the direction of movement of the material, toward and away from the material and/or transversely of the path. A cooling device is installed at a level below the path to directly contact or to indirectly remove heat from the material opposite the lamp or lamps.

  • Patent number: 4589336
Abstract: A screen printing machine has a reciprocable printing screen and below it a counter-pressure roller. Above the screen a squeegee unit is movable relative to the screen and has two vertically displaceable parallel squeegees. During movement of the screen in one direction, one of the squeegees forces ink through the screen and the other squeegee is retracted. During reverse movement the one squeegee is retracted and the other one pushes the ink pool over the screen back to the starting position. In the starting position, the one squeegee is lowered again and the other squeegee is retracted. The transfer of the ink pool from the other squeegee to the one squeegee takes place directly above the printing line which is defined by the screen in conjunction with the counter-pressure roller. The screen printing machine is provided with a control device for coordinating the movements of the squeegee unit with the movements of the printing screen.

  • Patent number: 4510864
Abstract: A screen printing machine has at least one printing station wherein rotary or flat screens are used. Downstream of the printing station, there is provided a heated continuously or discontinuously driven roller over the heated jacket of which the web is trained. The web preferably consists of impermeable material. The heated roller defines a drying path. A cooling unit is disposed downstream of the drying path and is preferably defined by a cooling roller which is connected to a cooling device. A web supplying roller is mounted at the inlet of the machine and a takeup roller is mounted downstream of the cooling unit. The transport of the web may be controlled during forward movement as well as during rearward movement. The machine is compact because the cooling unit and one of the web supplying and takeup rollers are disposed at a level below the printing station.
