    Abstract: Disclosed are improved carbon blacks and a process for producing them. The improved carbon blacks are distinguished from conventional blacks having the same CTAB surface, after incorporation into SSBR/BR rubber compositions, by a lower rolling resistance with equal or better wet skid behavior. They can be produced in conventional carbon black reactors by conducting the burning in the combustion chamber so that carbon nuclei form and are immediately brought into contact with the carbon black raw material.

    Abstract: Carbon black is produced in a flow reaction by spraying a hydrocarbon containing liquid feedstock with the aid of a propellant gas into a stream of hot reaction gases produced by burning a fuel, the feedstock-propellant gas-jet enters the reaction zone with a spraying angle that is greater than the spreading angle of a free jet. There is also described an apparatus for carrying out the process which comprises a binary injector supporting an atomizing nozzle whose head has several channels which are adjusted from zero degrees to different angles to the longitudinal axis of the nozzle.

A definition of classification in the "low extractable" and "high extractable" categories is given.

    Abstract: An oxidized carbon black (gas black) is prepared within the MCC (medium color channel black) area showing primary particle sizes of an average diameter of 16 to 18 nm and a content of volatiles of at least 15% which, as secondary characteristics, has a specific surface area (BET) of 300 to 420 m.sup.2 /g, an oil absorption (stiff paste) conducted on carbon black powder of 430 to 560 g/100 g, an oil absorption (stiff paste) conducted on carbon black beads of 370 to 450 g/100 g, a pH value of 2 to 5, a nigrometer index of 68 to 72 and a maximum content of volatiles of 25%. The carbon black is used as a pigment in high jet black lacquers.
