Abstract: Disclosed are improved carbon blacks and a process for producing them. The improved carbon blacks are distinguished from conventional blacks having the same CTAB surface, after incorporation into SSBR/BR rubber compositions, by a lower rolling resistance with equal or better wet skid behavior. They can be produced in conventional carbon black reactors by conducting the burning in the combustion chamber so that carbon nuclei form and are immediately brought into contact with the carbon black raw material.

Abstract: A process for the production of furnace blacks of variable carbon black structure according to the customary furnace black technology is disclosed, whereby a low ratio is adjusted between combustion air and carbon black raw material for achieving high yields and large raw material through-puts, and wherein for lowering of the carbon black structure the carbon black produced is removed entirely or partly from the exhaust gases and the residual gas thus obtained is completely or partially recycled to the combustion chamber of the reactor.

Abstract: There is prepared a homogeneous mixture of 95 to 30% carbon black and 5 to 70% resorcinol. The resorcinol preferably either has an average particle size of 0.01 to 0.4 mm or is broken down to that size. The product is employed in rubber mixture to improve the adhesion of rubber vulcanizates to metal, textile fibers, glass fibers, or their structures.

Abstract: Carbon black is produced in a flow reaction by spraying a hydrocarbon containing liquid feedstock with the aid of a propellant gas into a stream of hot reaction gases produced by burning a fuel, the feedstock-propellant gas-jet enters the reaction zone with a spraying angle that is greater than the spreading angle of a free jet. There is also described an apparatus for carrying out the process which comprises a binary injector supporting an atomizing nozzle whose head has several channels which are adjusted from zero degrees to different angles to the longitudinal axis of the nozzle.

Abstract: A process for removing extractables from carbon blacks in a fluidized bed, wherein low extractable carbon blacks are treated under relatively mild temperature conditions (320.degree. C.) with an oxygen containing gas and high extractable carbon blacks are treated first at 100.degree.-320.degree. C. with steam and then at 200.degree.-500.degree. C. with an oxygen containing gas. A definition of classification in the "low extractable" and "high extractable" categories is given.

Abstract: There are produced mixed granulates of carbon black-light filler using carbon black and an aqueous suspension of a light filler, e.g. precipitated in a pin containing screw granulator.

Abstract: An oxidized carbon black (gas black) is prepared within the MCC (medium color channel black) area showing primary particle sizes of an average diameter of 16 to 18 nm and a content of volatiles of at least 15% which, as secondary characteristics, has a specific surface area (BET) of 300 to 420 m.sup.2 /g, an oil absorption (stiff paste) conducted on carbon black powder of 430 to 560 g/100 g, an oil absorption (stiff paste) conducted on carbon black beads of 370 to 450 g/100 g, a pH value of 2 to 5, a nigrometer index of 68 to 72 and a maximum content of volatiles of 25%. The carbon black is used as a pigment in high jet black lacquers.

Abstract: Beaded carbon black is disclosed with a water content of 30 to 80% by weight which are used for coloring of paper and concrete. The product has the advantage of dust-free handling and a higher jet black color compared to conventional carbon black powder.
