  • Patent number: 5694020
Abstract: The invention is directed to an electrical device in which an electrical load is powered by a battery via an electronic switching device. A display means serves the function of indicating the charge status of the battery, and a time measurement means determines the connection time of the load to the battery. Following expiration of a predetermined connection time of the load to the battery, when the display means indicates the charge status "zero", the time measurement means will disconnect the electrical load from the battery by means of the electronic switching device.

  • Patent number: 5671129
Abstract: The invention is directed to an electronic switched-mode power supply for supplying power to an accumulator (61), comprising a self-oscillating flyback converter having a transformer (50), a switching transistor (1) with an emitter resistor (22) and a feedback circuit (11, 27). A control circuit (St) inhibits conduction of the switching transistor (1) when the switching voltage at the accumulator (61) has reached a predetermined upper level (A). A switching arrangement (SE) lowers the upper switching voltage (A) to a lower switching voltage (B) when, with the switched-mode power supply in the pulsed mode, the ratio of the duration of oscillation pauses to the duration of oscillation bursts exceeds a specified magnitude.

  • Patent number: 5633592
Abstract: A circuit arrangement for indicating the charge status of a batter in an electrical appliance includes a voltage comparator with hysteresis which detects the battery voltage, an oscillator driven by the voltage comparator, and an indicating device. The oscillator oscillates when the voltage is above a first threshold voltage and switches the indicating device to an active condition. The oscillator is blocked when the voltage is below a second threshold voltage and switches the indicated device to a passive condition.

  • Patent number: 5619126
Abstract: A circuit arrangement for automatically decreasing the load current includes a series arrangement formed by a load and a first electronic switching device and connected to a DC source of power. The first switching device is driven by a driver. The circuit further includes a control circuit controlling the driver. The control circuit is adapted to be initiated by a second electronic switching device, so that the second electronic switching device connects the first terminal of a capacitor and of a first resistor as well as the base of a transistor to one pole of the DC source of power, with the main current path of the transistor being between the input of the driver and the other pole of the DC source of power. The second terminal of the capacitor and of the first resistor is coupled to the other pole of the DC source, and the end of the first electronic switching device connected to the load is coupled to the second terminal of the capacitor through a feedback resistor.

  • Patent number: 5537024
Abstract: In a circuit arrangement to detect a voltage (U), the voltage is applied to the input of a voltage detector (VD) through a voltage divider (R1, R4), the voltage detector (VD) comprising a Schmitt-Trigger with reference voltage and an output driver. The output signal of the voltage detector (VD) is applied to the base of a transistor (T1) whose collector-emitter circuit, together with a series-connected capacitor (Cl), is connected in parallel with the voltage (U) to be detected. The junction of the capacitor (C1) and the transistor (T1) is connected to the input of the voltage detector (VD) through a resistor (R5, R6). The output of the voltage detector (VD) is further applied to the input of a component (C) delivering different output signals in dependence upon whether its input receives a constant signal level or a varying signal level.

  • Patent number: 4567476
Abstract: The subject of the invention is a circuit for monitoring the charge state of a battery for supplying voltage to an electrical consumer through a mode selector switch which may be switched from an OFF-state for disconnecting the electrical consumer from the battery into an ON-state for connecting the electrical consumer with said battery whereby in said ON-state different modes of operation of said electrical consumer are possible. The charge state of the battery is determined when the mode selector switch is in the ON-state and, when the voltage drops below an adjustable threshold value, an acoustic and/or optical indication is triggered after the electrical consumer is switched off. The circuit in the ON-state consumes only a very slight amount of energy and no additional energy in the OFF-state. In addition to the mode selector switch for switching the electrical consumer on and off, no battery test button or additional battery test position of the mode selector switch is required.
