  • Patent number: 8293793
Abstract: The present invention relates to propionic acid-comprising compositions in solid and essentially pure form comprising at least one compound according to formula (I) (Mn+)(H+)x(CH3CH2C(O)O?)(n+x)??(I), where Mn+ is an n-valent alkali metal cation or alkaline earth metal cation, n being equal to 1 or 2; and x is a number in the range from 0.25 to 5; with the proviso that x is not in the range from 0.75 to 1.75 when Mn+ is potassium; a method for producing such propionic acid-comprising compositions; and also the use of such compositions as silage additive, preservative, acidifier, food supplement, feedstuff or feedstuff additive for animal feed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 29, 2006
Date of Patent: October 23, 2012
    Assignee: BASF SE
Inventors: Alexander Hauk, Stefan Gropp, Gerd Diebold, Florian Weigel, Gerhard Laux
  • Patent number: 7612233
Abstract: The calculation of the above balance shows that the division of stream (5) into the streams (5a) and (5b) used here leads to the fact that in the neutralization stage no excess sodium formate is produced, so that any ejection can be omitted. Furthermore, the water content of the stream (14) comprising sodium formate recirculated to the first crystallization stage in this case can be set to a very low value.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 2, 2006
Date of Patent: November 3, 2009
    Assignee: BASF SE
Inventors: Alexander Hauk, Stefan Gropp, Robert Lenz, Daniela Rieck, Jörg Heilek, Gerhard Laux

  • Publication number: 20080194874
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a solid sodium diformate preparation having a minimum formic acid concentration of 35 percent by weight relative to the total weight of the sodium diformate preparation. According to said method, an aqueous solution having a molar ratio HCOOH:HCOONa of more than 1.5:1 and a molar ratio HCOOH:H2O of at least 1.1:1 is produced from sodium formate and at least 74 percent by weight of formic acid at an elevated temperature, the aqueous solution is crystallized, and the solid phase is separated from the mother liquor.

  • Patent number: 4698957
Abstract: A method of controlling a roving frame to produce good quality results with fewer procedural interruptions and without knowing precise parameters of the textile material being processed. To this end, optimum roving tension during the laying down of each roving layer on a bobbin is successively determined from nominal values for bobbin rotational speed based on only a one-time estimate of material parameters.
