  • Patent number: 7831357
Abstract: An apparatus for triggering restraint devices includes crash sensors inside and outside of a control unit. The apparatus checks a crash signal of the crash sensors using a plausibility signal. To check the crash signal, the apparatus receives the plausibility signal from a vehicle sensor outside of the control unit, and then triggers the restraint devices as a function of the crash signal and the first plausibility signal.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 18, 2003
Date of Patent: November 9, 2010
    Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbH
Inventors: Gerhard Loeckle, Sabine Brandenburger, Ralf Maier
  • Patent number: 7568543
Abstract: A device for triggering a restraining arrangement in a vehicle in which the vehicle velocity is taken into consideration in the triggering. In the system, the vehicle velocity is checked for plausibility by the signal from a remote sensor so as to avoid faulty triggering.

  • Patent number: 7036845
Abstract: A method of triggering at least one airbag in a vehicle is described, in which two or more criteria are used in the decision to fire the second stage of a two-stage airbag. Variables derived from measurement signals of an acceleration sensor are used as criteria. If these variables exceed threshold values within pre-defined times a firing decision is brought about. The criteria are chosen depending on the type of vehicle. Characteristic curves are used as threshold values. These characteristic curves may be modified depending on the use of a belt.

  • Publication number: 20050269809
Abstract: A device for triggering restraining means in a vehicle in which the vehicle velocity is taken into consideration in the triggering. In the process, the vehicle velocity is checked for plausibility by the signal from a remote sensor so as to avoid faulty triggering.

  • Publication number: 20050228566
Abstract: An improved passenger protection is achieved by refining the criterion for triggering the restraining unit provided for impact situations. A system and a method for generating a triggering signal for the restraining unit in a vehicle are provided for this purpose, the restraining unit being provided for the event of a collision of the vehicle—head-on collision, side impact. The system includes a unit for detecting an impact, which, in the event of an impact, generates a request signal for the restraining unit corresponding to the type of impact, and a unit for detecting a rotational motion of the vehicle about at least one vehicle axis—longitudinal axis (x) and/or transverse axis (y)—which generate a corresponding status signal.

  • Patent number: 6907335
Abstract: A method of classifying an obstacle on the basis of pre-crash sensor signals is described, acceleration and acceleration change being determined from the obstacle velocity, and the obstacle is classified on the basis of these parameters. The deployment algorithm is tightened as a function of this classification; if appropriate, restraining means are deployed at an early stage and an automatic braking and/or steering intervention takes place.

  • Patent number: 6640176
Abstract: A method for deployment of a restraint system is proposed, the acceleration in the direction of driving being increased as a function of the acceleration at right angles to the direction of driving and/or at a given angle relative to the direction of driving. This ensures that in particular crashes between 40 and 65 km/h can be detected more easily.
