  • Publication number: 20070216113
Abstract: The present invention relates to an expansion chucking device having: a base body (2); an expansion sleeve (4) provided at an axial end region of the base body (2), which sleeve forms a central receptacle (5) for a component to be chucked; and a chucking ring (6) that surrounds the expansion sleeve (4), forming an annular pressure chamber (7) located therebetween, and is thread-joined to the base body (2), the pressure chamber (7) being filled with a hydraulic medium (11) and the expansion sleeve (4) being capable of being elastically deformed in order to secure a component in the receptacle (5) by the fact that the chucking ring (6) is axially displaced by rotation with respect to the base body (2), with a reduction in the volume of the pressure chamber (7), wherein multiple slits (4b) are embodied in the expansion sleeve (4) which extend in the axial direction and are spaced apart from one another when viewed in the circumferential direction, the expansion sleeve (4) being sealed off with respect to the pre

  • Patent number: 6830273
Abstract: A parallel gripper includes a housing and two adjustable gripper base jaws which are displacably guided in a jaw guiding recess. The base jaws are moved relative to one another by a wedge hook gearing that is adjusted by a piston guided in the housing. The jaw guiding recess is provided with complementary configured guiding grooves. The ratio of the wall thickness of the housing between the base of the guiding grooves and the outside of the housing to the width of the housing measured vertically in relation to the direction of displacement of the base jaws is at least 0.2. The ratio of the width of inclined traction of the wedge hook gearing to the outside width of the base jaws is at least 0.4.

  • Publication number: 20030030294
Abstract: The invention relates to a parallel gripper comprising a housing (4) and two adjustable gripper base jaws (10, 12) which are guided in the housing (4) in a jaw guiding recess (8) in a displaceable manner. The base jaws (10, 12) can be moved towards or away from one another by means of a wedge hook gearing (20) that can be adjusted by means of a piston (30) that is guided in said housing. The aim of the invention is to provide a compact parallel gripper for transmitting and receiving great gripper forces or overturning moments. According to the invention, the parallel gripper is configured in such a way that the piston (30) is provided with an oval or essentially rectangular form having rounded edges and that the base jaws (10, 12) are provided with at least two guiding webs (16) on both sides respectively. Said webs are rectangular, wedge-shaped or trapezoidal in the cross-section thereof and extend in the direction of displacement (6).

  • Patent number: 6257122
Abstract: The invention relates to a clamping cylinder for operating, for instance, a chuck by means of a pull pipe or pull rod installed preferably in a turning machine. The clamping cylinder has a cylinder casing (4) comprising a screwed-on cover plate (5), an axially displaceable piston (12) in the work chamber (11) of the cylinder casing (4) to produce the clamping force and a distributor (2) fixed onto one of the cylinder casing faces with ports and pressure lines for supplying and discharging a pressure oil to and from the work chamber of the piston. According to the invention, the cylinder casing (4), its lid (5) and the distributor casing are made of a light metal in order to reduce inertia moments and wear and to improve lubrication and heat dissipation. The walls of the locating bores for the piston (12) and/or its piston rods (13, 22) are hard coated. The piston and its two piston rods are made in a single piece from a tool steel and their respective contact surfaces are hard chrome coated.

  • Patent number: 5769487
Abstract: A chucking device for accurate mutual fixation of disk-shaped parts or rotationally symmetrical parts. The device has a chucking element that engages with members in a form-fitting manner and has an expansion sleeve that together with the chucking element forms the border of a pressure chamber filled with an incompressible medium. Due to a relative axial movement between the chucking element and the expansion sleeve, the medium enclosed in the pressure chamber is pressed against the wall of the expansion sleeve, which thus comes in pressure contact with the corresponding peripheral surfaces of the two members.

  • Patent number: 5711538
Abstract: A chucking tool for non-positive precision chucking of a part such as a workpiece or the shank of a tool, for example. The tool consists of a base body, an expansion sleeve that is detachably mounted on a part of the base body which is elastically deformable in the radial direction, and a device for introducing a hydraulic medium into a pressure space provided between the expansion sleeve and the wall of the base body. According to this invention, the expansion sleeve is made of a comparatively thick-walled thermoplastic material, at least in its radially deformable part. According to another feature of this invention, there is at least one groove-shaped hydraulic medium channel in the area of the surface pairing of the expansion sleeve and the base body and it can be acted upon by the supply of hydraulic medium, for example, with a manually operated piston-cylinder unit provided in the base body.
