Abstract: A method for dynamic memory management that includes determining a priority of a requesting program portion and, based on the determined priority of the requesting program portion, either allocating a memory area in real time to the requesting program portion or allocating a memory area not in real time to the requesting program portion.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring a safety condition of a device, receive data from a plurality of operating-state detectors of the device selected on the basis of a specific configuration of the device to signal dangerous operating conditions of the device. Furthermore, to eliminate the need to completely redesign a safety monitoring program in response to modifications or expansions of the device, all the safety parameters are stored in one memory. The use of an exchangeable memory further simplifies modification of the system. A specific identifier is employed to rule out the use of an incorrect memory and a check sum for the memory contents allows detection of any unauthorized change in the memory contents.

Abstract: A carrying tower for a metallurgical vessel includes at least one carrying arm cantilevering from a non-rotatable carrying column and pivotable about the carrying column, which carrying arm carries at least one metallurgical vessel. A pivot bearing is provided between the carrying arm and the carrying column. In order to enable a simple check, maintenance and a quick removal of the pivot bearing with the carrying arm remaining on the carrying tower, a single pivot bearing accommodating axial and radial forces as well as tilting moments, with a lower-side shoulder of a first bearing race, rests on a supporting surface arranged on the upper end of the carrying column. The carrying arm is mounted so as to be suspended on a second bearing race of the pivot bearing.

Each of the supporting arms is provided with at least two differing supports that are exchangeable for one another and into which the carrying means of differing metallurgical vessels are fittable.

Abstract: An arrangement at a continuous casting plant includes a liftable and lowerable tundish mounted on a movable carrier and a tilting device mounted on a tilting stand for emptying of the tundish. The tilting device includes a tilting beam rotatable about its longitudinal axis and the tundish possesses recesses at its lower side, corresponding to the cross section of the tilting beam. Thus the tundish is lowerable at the tilting stand so its recesses make a positive connection with the tilting beam.
