    Abstract: Phosphorus pentachloride is manufactured from chlorine and phosphorus trichloride in the presence of molten phosphorus pentachloride. The process can be carried out such that the reaction product flows out from the reactor continuously as a melt. Reaction pressures of more than 1 bar and temperatures of from 160.degree. to 250.degree. C. are preferred.

    Abstract: A process for the manufacture of ammonium sulfamate by introducing under pressure ammonia and sulfur trioxide into a reactor containing a melt which mainly consists of ammonium sulfamate and ammonium imidodisulfonate, while maintaining a molar ratio of NH.sub.3 /SO.sub.3 of from 1.5 to 1 to 2.0:1, which comprises introducing sulfur trioxide into the gas phase above the melt.

    Abstract: When adding simultaneously nitrite and sulfite in a molar ratio of from 1:1 to 1:1.5 to an acid aqueous solution having a pH value of from 0 to 3, nitrous oxide is formed. The process is carried out at a temperature in the range of from 0.degree. to 100.degree. C. Instead of sulfite there may also be used SO.sub.2. The gaseous nitrous oxide formed can be freed from impurities (SO.sub.2, NO) by washing with aqueous alkali metal hydroxide solution and alkaline permanganate solution.
