Abstract: Aqueous coating materials are based on a mixture of(A) an aqueous secondary dispersion of carboxyl-containing copolymers of acrylates or methacrylates having an acid number of from 15-150 and a K value of 22-50, as a binder,(B) not less than 5% by weight, based on the binder (A), of pigments and/or fillers, each of which contains or consists of a calcium compound or magnesium compound, and(C) 0.1-10% by weight, based on the components (B), of a monoester of phosphoric acid whose alcohol component is derived from an alkoxylated C.sub.4 -C.sub.24 -alcohol, phenol or an alkylphenol,the concentration of the components (B) being from 2-70% by volume, based on the solids of (A) and (B).

Abstract: Aqueous polymer dispersions which have a long shelf life are obtainable by dispersing a mixture of 15-50% by weight of a copolymer (A) of(I) 1.5-15% by weight of copolymerizable compounds of 3 to 10 carbon atoms which contain a carboxyl or carboxylic anhydride group,(II) 30-98.5% by weight of C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 -alkyl acrylates or methacrylates,(III) 0-60% by weight of vinylaromatics,(IV) 0-20% by weight of copolymerizable carbonyl compounds and(V) 0-20% by weight of further copolymerizable organic compounds not stated under (I) to (IV) and50-85% by weight of a copolymer (B) of40-100% by weight of the monomers (II) and0-60% by weight of the monomers (III) to (V),with the proviso that the copolymers (A) and (B) together contain, as components, up to 65% by weight of alkyl (meth)acrylates (II) whose homopolymers have glass transition temperatures of less than 0.degree. C.

Abstract: Polymeric compositions which undergo crosslinking after drying at room temperature or elevated temperatures and are dissolved or dispersed in water are prepared by reacting polymeric organic compounds containing carbonyl and carboxyl groups with polyhydrazides in the presence of monoketones or monoaldehydes and are dissolved or dispersed in water by partially or completely neutralizing the carboxyl groups.They are useful as crosslinking agents and as binders for coatings on sheet-like substrates.

Abstract: Gasoline-soluble copolymers containing, as copolymerized units,(A) from 10 to 40% by weight of styrene,(B) from 10 to 50% by weight of tert.-butyl acrylate and/or vinyl pivalate,(C) from 20 to 40% by weight of isobutyl methacrylate,(D) from 5 to 20% by weight of acrylic acid esters and/or methacrylic acid esters of alkanols of 10 to 20 carbon atoms and(E) from 0 to 5% by weight of monoolefinically unsaturated monocarboxylic acids and/or dicarboxylic acids of 3 to 5 carbon atoms and/or their .beta.-hydroxyalkyl esters and/or monoalkyl esters of the dicarboxylic acids,the amount of component (D) being from 20 to 50% by weight of that of component (A), and the sum of the percentages of A to E being 100, are particularly suitable for use as binders for gasoline-containing masonry paints and renders.
