  • Patent number: 6296086
Abstract: The present invention discloses a brake device for the wheels of an automotive vehicle which includes a wheel-sided brake drum and a vehicle-sided mud guard that engages in a non-contact manner with a circumferential web into an annular recess in the end surface of the brake drum opposite the mud guard in order to provide a labyrinth-type seal. In conventional brake devices, the mud guard along with a welded annular web typically has a two-part design. In contrast thereto, the present invention proposes that the mud guard be punched and deep drawn from sheet metal and that the circumferential web be integrally designed with the mud guard by noncutting shaping.

  • Patent number: 5542772
Abstract: The invention is related to an articulated joint fitting preferably for automotive vehicles with a wobble gearing to create a swivelling motion of the joint parts. As a development of the articulated joint fitting, a reduction of costs is achieved in that the spur gear wheel is composed of a plurality of elements and a simplified adjustment of the eccentric with respect to one of the articulated joint fittings is attained.

  • Patent number: 5370429
Abstract: A bumper system including an extendable bumper resiliently disposed in the direction of impact. The system is compact and, even at elevated impact speeds, protects the automotive vehicle against damage. The bumper is extended by an adequate amount before or during the situation of danger. A progressive damping characteristic and a suitable drive to quickly extend and to safely return the bumper are provided.

  • Patent number: 5205585
Abstract: An occupant safety device for automotive vehicles is proposed which saves mounting space and which is comprised of a roll bar (2, 33, 34) allowing both to be brought into its extended final operative position by a signal being generated in the event of severe impact by means of elastic prestressing means (13, 27) and to be adjusted into the extended final operative position or into the final lowered position by means of an additional drive (5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 17, 18), the movement of the roll bar (2, 33, 34) taking place substantially in a plane which runs at right angles relative to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle, and that at least one headrest (15) is provided at the roll bar (2, 33, 34).

  • Patent number: 5094478
Abstract: A convertible motor vehicle is provided with two rollover bars which can be swivelled out of a lowered inoperative position into an upwardly directed supporting position and back around a swivel axis fixed at the vehicle and extending essentially in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The rollover protection system can be integrated into conventional vehicle concepts in a particularly space-saving and advantageous manner and reduces the risk of injury in the case of a fast, sensor-controlling swinging-up of the rollover bars.

  • Patent number: 5066040
Abstract: Rollover protection for occupants of a convertible motor vehicle is formed by two rollover bars which are disposed on a base plate and can be swivelled around swivel axes extending approximately in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, approximately in the plane of the base plate. At the base plate which is installed largely in the transverse direction of the vehicle and approximately perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction, control elements for the swivelling of the rollover bars, as well as the triggering mechanisms and the locking devices for the extended rollover bars, are disposed. The rollover protection system can be pre-assembled easily, and the adjustability of all driving and locking elements is good. As a result of the flat construction, the system requires little installation space and permits a favorable moving direction of the rollover bars during the extending operation.

  • Patent number: 4921298
Abstract: A lift-up sun roof, in particular for automotive vehicles, featuring a simple design and a low overall height is proposed, with a rigid cover (2) which in its closed position closes a roof opening in a roof area (1) and which is guided at lateral guide rails (5, 6) by means of siding elements (4) and is raisable with one end above the stationary roof area (1) or, at option, slidable below the said roof area (1) upon lowering of one end. In this configuration, the connection between said cover (2) and said sliding element (4) is envisaged to be effected through a lever (7, 15, 16) which is pivotable about the longitudinal axis of said guide rail (5, 6), the angle of pivoting being determined by a control ramp (9).
