  • Publication number: 20100137455
Abstract: Copolymers for use in solubilizing substances which are insoluble in water, substances which are only sparingly soluble in water, and combinations thereof; such copolymers comprising: (a) 60 to 99% by weight of N-vinylcaprolactam; and (b) 1 to 40% by weight of at least one other monomer selected from the group consisting of: C8-C30-alkyl esters of monoethylenically unsaturated C3-C8-carboxylic acids; N—C8-30 alkyl-substituted amides and N,N—C8-30 dialkyl-substituted amides of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, or combinations thereof; vinyl esters of aliphatic unbranched C8-C30-carboxylic acids; C8-C30-alkyl vinyl ethers; and mixtures thereof.

  • Publication number: 20090011017
Abstract: Copolymers obtained by free-radical polymerization of a mixture of a) 80 to 99% by weight of a monoolefinic monomer selected fronm the group consisting of acrylic monomers, methacrylic monomers and N-vinyllactam monomers (monomers a)), b) 1 to 20% by weight of a monoolefinic silane monomer (monomer b)), with the proviso that the total of components a) and b) equals 100% by weight,

  • Publication number: 20060122321
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of producing aqueous secondary dispersions of water-insoluble copolymers by free-radical solution polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated monomers M comprising: i) at least one hydrophobic, monoethylenically unsaturated monomer M1 with a solubility in water of not more than 30 g/l at 25° C. and 1 bar and ii) at least one hydrophilic, monoethylenically unsaturated, nonionic comonomer M2 with a solubility in water of at least 80 g/l at 25° C. and 1 bar, in an organic, water-miscible solvent or a mixture of water with an organic, water-miscible solvent as polymerization medium and subsequent replacement of the organic solvent by water in which, toward the end of the polymerization, some of the monomers M are added in the form of a monomer composition M? which comprises essentially only monomers M2 as monomers.

  • Patent number: 6025317
Abstract: Porous polymers which are in powder form and contain N-vinylimidazole units and which are obtainable by free-radical precipitation polymerization ofa) 5-100% by weight of at least one N-vinylimidazole of the formula ##STR1## where R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are identical or different and are H, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, N-vinylaxazolidone, N-vinyltriazole, 4-vinylpyridine N-oxide or mixtures of said monomers,b) 0-95% by weight of other copolymerizable monoethylenically unsaturated monomers andc) 0-50% by weight of at least one monomer with at least two non-conjugated ethylenic double bonds in aqueous solution which contains 0.5-30% by weight of at least one electrolyte and, based on the monomers employed, 0.5-80% by weight of at least one surfactant, a process of the preparation thereof, and the use of the porous polymers.

  • Patent number: 4758835
Abstract: A system for the locking and/or unlocking of a security device, particularly an automobile locking device, comprising a transmitting device for transmitting coded data recording, a receiving device for receiving the coded data recording, a transmitter-end storage and a receiver-end storage for storing codes and a comparator for comparing the received data recording with the stored data recording, a control signal being adapted to be given off to the security device from the receiving device in the event that said data agree. The receiving device has a signal generator to produce several further coded data which are stored in the transmitting device and in the receiving device and can be employed upon the subsequent use of the system. The further coded data recording may be random number and/or algorithms for changing the random numbers. The production of the further coded data recording is effected preferably upon actuation of the ignition lock.
