  • Patent number: 7981260
Abstract: An electrolysis cell for preparing alkali metals from a liquid alkali metal heavy metal alloy, including a tube arranged essentially horizontally having a closure device at each of the two ends of the tube. At least one solid electrolyte tube arranged concentrically in the tube and oriented with openings towards one end of the tube such that a first annular gap for conducting a liquid alkali metal, which forms an anode, is present between the inside of the tube and the outside of the solid electrolyte tube. An interior space in the solid electrolyte tube, sealed off from an alloy inlet, first annular gap and an alloy outlet, accommodates liquid alkali metal that can be used as a cathode.

  • Publication number: 20110009627
Abstract: The invention relates to a reactor for performing high-pressure reactions, comprising at least one tube (31) whose ends are each conducted through a tube plate (33) and which is bonded to the tube plate (33). The tube plates (33) and the at least one tube (31) are surrounded by an outer jacket, such that an outer space (39) is formed between the tube (31) and the outer jacket. The tube plates (33) each have at least one surface composed of a nickel-base alloy and the at least one tube (31) is in each case welded on to the surface composed of the nickel-base alloy. The surface composed of the nickel-base alloy points in each case in the direction of the particular reactor end. The outer jacket has a thickness which is sufficient to absorb tensile forces which occur between tube (31) and outer jacket owing to a temperature difference in the event of different expansion. The invention further relates to a process for starting up the reactor and for performing an exothermic reaction in the reactor.

  • Patent number: 6138593
Abstract: A sewing machine with a balance wheel (1), which is detachably fastened on the arm shaft (15). The balance wheel (1) is secured against rotation by the cooperation of a carrier pin (17) transversely protruding from the arm shaft (15) with two axially extending recesses (7) in the balance wheel hub (1), which said recesses are open at one end. The wheel is secured axially by the cooperation of an elastic finger (9), which is fastened to the balance wheel (1) and has a mounting hole (12), with the carrier pin (17).

  • Patent number: 5575193
Abstract: This invention relates to a rotary slide valve (5, 6) with a centering device (25) that is loaded by the force of a spring (31). The centering device is placed inside the valve housing (1) without any need for additional space in radial direction. In addition, the reaction pressure required by the steering system is reduced. According to the invention, spring (31) presses upon a reaction piston (32) that acts with a centering piece (24) upon the roller body (30) of the centering device (25). Between a lid (35) and the reaction piston (32), there is a reaction chamber (37) that can be provided with a variable pressure. At faster driving speeds, a pressure supporting spring (31) in the reaction chamber (37) acts upon the face (41) of the reaction piston (32). In this way, a smaller spring can be used and construction space can be saved because the force of the reaction pressure is additive with the force of the spring (31).

  • Patent number: 5132528
Abstract: Apparatus and method for measuring the radiation power of a laser. Two partially transmitting mirrors are arranged in the main laser beam which, with respect to their orientation in space, are turned by 90.degree. with respect to one another and by which a portion of the radiation is coupled out, and the partial beam is directed to an electro optic transducer. The measuring arrangement is therefore independent of the polarization condition of the main laser beam.

  • Patent number: 5130533
Abstract: A device for measuring the radiation returned from a material treated by means of an optical radiation source can be inserted onto and removed from the beam path of the optical radiation source. An optical deflecting device guides the radiation of the optical radiaton source out of its beam path and subsequently guides it back onto the original beam path. The optical deflecting device has at least one element which reflects the radiation of the optical beam source and transmits the returned radiation, and a detector for detecting the returned radiaton being arranged behind the element.

  • Patent number: 4951288
Abstract: Sensitive components of a laser such as a resonator mirror, a decoupling mirror or the like, are protected against an initial laser beam surge caused by the ignition of a laser with an arc discharge lamp, by a beam interrupting switch having two switch sections each carrying a filter or shutter switchable into a laser beam path in response to an arc discharge lamp ignition pulse. For a beam interruption the filters or shutters are located directly in front of and directly behind of a lasing element as viewed in the beam path direction. The switch sections are operated by a shifting mechanism responsive to the ignition pulse to bring the switch sections into the beam path and to a control signal to bring the switch sections out of the beam path or into a beam releasing position.

  • Patent number: 4950051
Abstract: An electromagnetic beam switch for a laser resonator or generator, specifically for the guided or controlled transmission of light into a light conductor has two electrically controllable rotary magnets arranged in twin fashion for redundancy. Each rotary magnet operates a filter glass plate to tilt these plates into the beam path for interrupting the beam generation. The plates (13a, 13b) cooperate with respective switch contacts in corresponding switches (14, 15) arranged so that during activation, that is during switching-on, both rotary magnets (11, 12) are connected in parallel with each other. Upon completion of a "flight phase " or switch over phase the rotary magnets are automatically connected in series with each other to operate at half power as compared to the initial full power energizing phase. RC-components are arranged to prevent a constant activation of the magnets.

  • Patent number: 4700645
Abstract: A sewing machine housing includes a base to hold the machine's drive mechanism and a covering mounted on the base. To effect an easy alteration of the outer shape, the covering comprises a plurality of individual covering pieces with edge contours aligned with one another, the individual covering pieces being detachably connected to the base or to one another. In order to adapt to differently designed operating means in a given area of the base to be covered, a plurality of individual covering pieces are provided for that area with a plurality of different shapes with essentially the same edge contours and edge design.

  • Patent number: 4000441
Abstract: This TV receiver power supply is of the type wherein power to operate the audio output stage is taken from the horizontal output deflection circuit. To prevent interaction on the high voltage supply when high audio output levels are reached, the invention provides a compensating circuit arrangement which prevents any lowering of the high voltage during high audio peaks. This prevents noticeable changes in the TV picture width during audio peaks.
