  • Patent number: 5624099
Abstract: An elastic mounting apparatus for vibration-decoupled mounting of a turbocharger housing on an internal combustion engine. The mounting apparatus includes a clamping element with two spring elements arranged in a functionally serial relationship. The clamping element joins the housing and the internal combustion engine so as to allow relative vibration between the two. The first spring element includes an annular spring member made of elastomeric material and a second spring element formed by at least one disk spring. The clamping element is penetrated by a clamping screw, and the disk spring can be compressed by the clamping screw in such a way that its spring rate, after compression to the intended preload, is substantially zero. The housing is configured as a turbocharger housing with at least one intake pipe. The intake pipe is braced in a vibration-decoupled and sealing manner on the cylinder head of the internal combustion engine by a sealing element made of an elastomeric material.

  • Patent number: 5540419
Abstract: An elastic bearing includes a support and a thrust bearing. Each is provided with a fastening element and each are braced against each other by at least one elastic spring element of an elastomeric material and at least one damping device. The support includes a supporting body made of a tough material, which extends essentially transverse to the direction of the introduced vibrations. The thrust bearing includes a drum-shaped housing which essentially encloses the supporting body on all sides. The supporting body is adjoined by at least one ring-shaped damping element made of an elastomeric material which, under static preloading of the bearing, abuts on the front-side inner surfaces of the housing in a substantially stress-free manner. In the cylindrical recess of the damping element at least one elastic spring element is arranged axially on both sides of the supporting body.

  • Patent number: 4826538
Abstract: A method for removing an insulating fluid containing polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) which was used as an insulating medium, from the pores of a porous solid electrical insulating part which had been immersed in PCB-containing insulating fluid of an electrical apparatus from the group consisting of electrical transformers, chokes and capacitors includes the steps of removing the insulating part from the electrical apparatus and subsequently immersing the insulating part in a bath containing at least one fluid solvent for PCB selected from the group consisting of aliphatic, aromatic, chlorinated and fluorinated hydrocarbons. The insulating part is moved within the bath for a period of from 8-60 minutes at a speed of from 0.02 to 0.5 meters per second, and the solvent of the bath is heated during the movement of the insulating part from the ambient temperature to a final temperature of from 5.degree. to 25.degree. C. below the boiling temperature of the solvent at the pressure prevailing in the bath.

  • Patent number: 4516935
Abstract: An arrangement for heating and/or heat retaining of containers and their contents, for example ladles to be filled with molten metal, has a burner directed toward the container, a cover for a container opening, and a preheating device for combustion air which if formed as a component of the cover.

  • Patent number: 4410999
Abstract: Method and apparatus for evaporation cooling in metallurgical furnaces. In order to prevent the formation of heat-insulating layers of vapor, over a large area, between the heat exchange surface (14) and the cooling fluid supplied thereto, the cooling fluid is supplied at a plurality of positions which are distributed over the surface, and the amount of fluid supplied is so restricted that a closed film of fluid covering the entire heat exchange surface (14) can no longer be formed. The fluid is guided to the heat exchange surface (14) by fluid guide means which are in the form of pin members or plates, or by way of a loose filling of particles, which communicate with the heat exchange surface (14) (FIG. 2).

  • Patent number: 4317677
Abstract: A process for the production of molten crude iron and reduction gas is described wherein the molten iron and gas are formed in a smelting gasifier, to which is introduced at the upper portion thereof preheated sponge iron of particle size between 3 mm and 30 mm and coal to form a fluidized bed, and an oxygen-containing gas at the lower portion thereof, and controlling the ratio of oxygen-containing gas and coal to maintain a high temperature zone in the lower portion of the gasifier and a lower temperature zone in the upper portion thereof, the oxygen-containing gas being introduced substantially immediately above the resulting melt which is formed at the bottom of the gasifier.
