  • Patent number: 5085014
Abstract: A honing tool is used for the surface machining of the cylinder working surfaces of cylinder bores of an internal combustion engine. In order to obtain a uniform plateau texture over the entire surface of the cylinder bore, working elements are provided which can be brought to bear under radial pressure against the bore wall. The working elements are designed as honing rings, which are mounted in the tool like piston rings. The honing rings are arranged roughly coaxially to the longitudinal axis of the honing tool.
