  • Patent number: 5731065
Abstract: In order to improve the handling and filtering characteristics of a multilayered, textile, gas-permeable filter material against toxic chemical substances and, in particular, filter and protective materials for the production of sheet-like filters and protective suits for the civil and military fields, it is suggested that this filter material have a first layer as textile support layer which is bonded to a second layer present in the form of an areal adhesive layer. In addition, the filter material has a third layer applied to the second layer and areally bonded thereto, this third layer comprising a textile sheet-like layer containing activated carbon fibers.

  • Patent number: 4815205
Abstract: The apparatus puts at least one metal beginning piece on a cotinuous slide fastener chain made by connecting a plurality of slide fasteners each with beginning piece regions prepared for receiving a metal beginning piece and with the first slide fastener coupling members bounding the beginning piece regions of the slide fasteners. The opened slide fastener chain is moveable or advanceable stepwise by the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4799424
Abstract: A conveying apparatus comprises a conveyor belt and a housing disposed atop a conveying surface of the belt to form a chamber communicating with that surface. A fluid sealing assembly extends between the housing and the belt and comprises a profile cord engaging the belt surface. The profile cord is free to change its shape to conform to the belt configuration. The profile cord is mounted at the free ends of spring fingers which are anchored to the housing. The regions between adjacent fingers are sealed by a sealing strip which engages the fingers. The spring fingers are formed by providing parallel slits in a spring steel plate.

  • Patent number: 4714015
Abstract: A dual belt press comprises opposed movable belts and a chamber disposed adjacent one of said belts for containing a medium to be applied to such belt. The chamber is defined by a frame. A seal for the medium is carried by the frame. The frame includes a holder attached to said frame and defining a serpentine groove. The holder comprises separate ledges disposed on opposite sides of the groove and defining the groove. Each ledge comprises a plurality of pieces abutting each other in the direction of belt travel. Pieces on opposite sides of said groove are mutually separable in a direction transverse to the direction of belt travel. A sealing strip is mounted in the groove.

  • Patent number: 4449448
Abstract: In a double band press the compressing pressure is applied to the endless bands by pressure plates via intermediate pressure rolls. The pressure rolls extend transversely to the running direction of the steel bands and are interconnected at their ends by a guide chain. More than two pressure rolls are associated with each pair of connecting bolts of the guide chain. The axes of the pressure rolls are parallel and are offset transversely relative to the axes of the connecting bolts of the guide chain. In this manner, a stable connection of the pressure rolls among themselves is made possible, with the pressure rolls having a smaller diameter and being capable of being arranged closely adjacent to each other. A more uniform and higher distribution of pressure may be obtained thereby.

  • Patent number: 4164387
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing sheets of plastic having precisely controlled thickness. Two endless steel belts are positioned to provide coextensive runs between which there is a press-gap of uniform thickness. Each of the belts is provided throughout the treatment zone with a back-up pressure structure formed by a continuous array of rollers positioned along each of the belts and a back-up plate structure which is positioned to provide a precisely controlled gap for the rollers. The rollers are turned by the contact with the belt and roll along a path throughout the length of the treatment zone. Heated liquid is passed through the plates to control the temperature of the product being treated. Each of the plate structures is held against its array of rollers by a plurality of steel bearing strips, the transverse dimension of each of which is controlled by passing a heated liquid through it.

  • Patent number: 4164386
Abstract: A press for producing continuous sheets, for example, that which is fabricated into circuit boards for printed electrical circuits. There are two endless steel belts, each of which is mounted on a pair of drums or rolls which support the belts so that there are coextensive belt runs which define a treatment zone in which the product is formed. The coextensive belt runs are held in precisely spaced relationship by a pair of pressure plates which may also act as heating plates. Each of the pressure plates is supported from the press structural members by a plurality of support strips which are positioned in rows longitudinally of the treatment zone. The strips of one of those rows adjacent each of the longitudinal side edges of the treatment zone are wedge units. Each wedge unit is adjustable to flex the edge of the support plate and change the thickness of the press-gap in that area. In that way, it is possible to produce a product having precisely controlled uniform thickness throughout.
