  • Patent number: 5012520
Abstract: A control device for a hearing aid is inconspicuously held by a hearing aid user, such as in the palm of the hand, and includes a vibrator which emits a remote control signal at a frequency outside of the audible range of human hearing, and the hearing aid worn in the ear of the user has circuitry responsive to these remote control signals. The remote control signals are transmitted via the skeleton of the hearing aid user by transcutaneous coupling of a contact surface of the control device. The hearing aid includes a transducer for converting the received remote control signals transmitted via the body of the wearer into electrical signals for controlling at least some of the components of the hearing aid. The remote control signal may be coded, in which case the hearing aid will also include a recognition circuit for decoding the received signal.

  • Patent number: 4599536
Abstract: A single-ended low-pressure discharge lamp, such as a fluorescent lamp, is ade by providing an inner glass base structure which has a depending portion (2) extending towards the base (14) of the lamp, and an upper flange or rim portion (3) to which the bulb (10) is melted-on as a last step. Two U-shaped tubes (5, 5') are melted-in into an oval deformed region of the depending projecting end portion (2), a pre-heatable electrode (12, 12') being also located within the end region (8, 8a) of the U-shaped tubes, so that, in one working step, after deformation of the glass U-shaped tubes and the glass inner base structure, a press operation will seal together the electrodes within the ends of the U-shaped tubes, the glass of the U-shaped tubes and the inner base structure.

  • Patent number: 4508940
Abstract: An exemplary embodiment includes a plurality of parallel signal channels coupled with a signal input transducer, such as a microphone or induction coil. Each of the signal channels includes a respective bandpass filter for selection of a different frequency band, a controlled-gain amplifier, controlled by a volume control potentiometer, circuits for non-linear signal processing, and a bandpass filter for the reduction of distortion components caused by the non-linear processing circuits. A summing amplifier combines the signal components from all channels and is connected via an amplifier to an output signal transducer. Space requirements and power consumption are reduced in such a multi-channel processing arrangement by implementing all of the filters as sampled-data analog circuits. As a result hearing aids are provided which can be worn on the head, e.g. behind the ear.

  • Patent number: 4441050
Abstract: Two U-shaped inner tubes, each of which have a straight leg which is hermcally sealed about a preheatable electrode, are sealed into the upper, oval reception section of a preshaped flare. The seal also includes the exhaust tube and the lead-in wire pairs supporting the preheatable electrodes and is carried out as a press seal in one single working step. The other legs of the U-shaped inner tubes remain open. The lower, outwardly facing rim of the preshaped flare which is concentric with the longitudinal lamp axis is sealed to an outer envelope whose neck drops off during this sealing process and which surrounds the U-shaped inner tubes and contains a gas and/or metal vapor filling. The inner tubes are preferably coated with a three-line phosphor, and the outer envelope is provided with a light diffusing coating.
