  • Publication number: 20020171244
Abstract: A pipe clamp has a tightenable clamp body and at least one spike strip arranged radially inwardly within the clamp body and slanted toward the axial center of the clamp body. The spike strip and a radially inner side of the clamp body delimit an acute angle therebetween. The spike strip has a first longitudinal edge provided with teeth projecting radially inwardly and slanted axially relative to the clamp body. The at least one spike strip has a second longitudinal edge supported in a radial direction and in an axial direction on the clamp body. An area between the at least one spike strip and the radially inner side of the clamp body defined by the acute angle is free of parts counteracting a bending of the at least one spike strip toward the radially inner side of the clamp body.

  • Publication number: 20020166214
Abstract: A pipe clamp has a clamping strip, first and second clamping jaws connected to ends of the clamping strip, a clamping screw, and a nut cooperating with the clamping screw for moving the first and second clamping jaws toward one another when tightening the pipe clamp. Two radially projecting tabs are provided near the first clamping jaw. The nut is arranged between the two radially projecting tabs. At least one of the two radially projecting has a shaped portion which is oriented toward the other one of the two radially projecting. The nut has at least one securing surface. The shaped portion engages the at least one securing surface of the nut radially relative to the clamping strip.

  • Publication number: 20020038495
Abstract: A steel band for a hose clamp has a main body and at least one pair of end portions, wherein each one of the end portions has at least one slotted hole receiving a clamping screw with a screw head. The end portions are bent to form loops. Each loop has first and second legs. First and second clamping members are inserted into the loops, respectively. The first and second clamping members have a substantially cylindrical periphery. The first clamping member has a transverse bore without thread receiving a threaded shaft of the clamping screw allowing free movement of the threaded shaft. The second clamping member has a transverse threaded bore engaging the threaded shaft of the clamping screw. The first and second legs are connected to one another near the free end of the first leg by a positive-locking connection.

  • Publication number: 20010043833
Abstract: A coupling device has a coupling receptacle and a matching coupling insert received in the coupling receptacle for connecting two components conveying a fluid. The coupling receptacle has two lateral, diametrically opposed slots and a U-shaped, elastic securing bracket seated on the coupling receptacle with two legs projecting into the lateral slots. The coupling insert has an outer peripheral securing rib and the legs of the securing bracket snap into place behind the securing ring in the coupling position of the coupling device. A securing bushing is arranged inside the coupling receptacle and faces a sealing ring with one end while the other end rests radially outwardly on the securing rib and projects past the lateral slots. The securing bushing has two transverse slots aligned with the two lateral slots, and the two legs of the securing bracket engage the two transverse slots of the securing bushing.

  • Patent number: 5309607
Abstract: A hose clip which comprises a flexible strap adapted to be placed around a selected portion of a hose and to be tightened around such selected portion by turning a bolt or screw. An elongated concavo-convex strip-shaped resilient insert is adjacent a portion of the internal surface and extends in the circumferential direction of the strap opposite the mechanism which serves to increase or reduce the effective length of the strap. The convex external surface of the insert is biased in a direction away from the adjacent portion of the internal surface of the strap by one or more springs which are disposed between the insert and the strap and are of one piece with the insert. At least one end of the insert is slidable along the strap. The spring or springs ensure that the strap does not become loose as a result of aging of the material of the adjacent portion of the hose.

  • Patent number: 5074601
Abstract: A quick-release connector wherein a tubular male component has a rear portion insertable into the end portion of a first conduit and a front portion insertable into the resilient front part of a tubular female component. The male component has an annular protuberance between the front and rear portions and the protuberance has a conical front flank and a radial rear flank. The rear part of the female component is insertable into the end portion of a second conduit and the front part has two arms with internal male detents within a ring which connects the front ends of the arms to each other. In order to insert the front portion of the male component, the conical flank of the protuberance is caused to move the detents apart until the detents snap behind the radial flank of the protuberance.

  • Patent number: 5064227
Abstract: A quick-release connector for pairs of hoses or other conduits has a tubular male component the front portion of which is insertable into the front part of a tubular female component and carries one or more sealing elements which engage the internal surface of the front part. The front portion of the male component is surrounded by a ring-shaped radially deformable retaining member with a smooth conical external surface which diverges from the axis of the male component in a direction toward the rear portion. The front part of the female component has a chamber behind one or more detents with radial flanks for engagement with the maximum-diameter end of the retaining member when the latter is fully received in the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4523352
Abstract: A hose clip which can be tightened without a screw has an elongated band with a first end section which is formed with a closed slot for threading of the second end section therethrough. The end portion of the first end section has a pallet which engages one of a series of external teeth on the second end section to hold the band against expansion when the band surrounds and is tightened around an elastic hose. The end portion of the first end section extends radially outwardly and abuts against a back support which is an integral part of the first end section and is formed by looping the first end section radially outwardly adjacent to its end portion. The provision of the back support on the first end section enhances the versatility of the hose clip by enabling it to properly clamp smaller- or larger-diameter hoses without affecting the ability of the end portion of the first end section to remain in proper engagement with a selected tooth of the second end section.

  • Patent number: 4449429
Abstract: A power tool for tensioning hose clamps of the type wherein one end portion of a strap overlies the other end portion and has a laterally extending tip which can break away or bend in response to the application of a pull sufficient to effect satisfactory tensioning of the looped central portion of the strap around a hose or the like. The tool has a barrel with an inlet receiving the one end portion so that the tip can be engaged by the shoulder of an entraining element mounted at the front end of a retractible piston rod. The tensioning element is reciprocable in and relative to a bearing which is reciprocable in the barrel by interposition of friction reducing rolling elements. When the piston rod is retracted, the shoulder of the tensioning element moves against the tip of the one end portion of the strap and exerts a pull upon the tip while moving with the bearing so that the force which is needed to bend or break the tip at least approximates the maximum force that is necessary to retract the piston rod.
