  • Publication number: 20100106371
Abstract: The invention relates to a control device for regulating or controlling a servo-drive unit in a steering system of a vehicle. In order to determine the initial zero position of the steering shaft the value of at least one vehicle state variable is taken into consideration as an input signal, said variable not being a steering angle variable. The steering shaft is in the initial zero position if said vehicle state variable within a defined range of values.

  • Patent number: 7429813
Abstract: Piezoelectric actuators having ceramic layers and electrode layers, and being provided with an outer cover layer on each end face of the piezoelectric actuator. The ceramic layers and the outer cover layers each have a predetermined dielectric constant. Rapid switching of the actuator results in considerable electromagnetic interference, which must be reduced through complex measures involving the control unit or electric lines. The device reduces electromagnetic interference by decreasing the interfering capacitance between the actuator and the actuator housing connected to ground electrically. The outer cover layers have a lower relative dielectric constant than the ceramic layers between the outer cover layers.

  • Publication number: 20080149185
Abstract: For producing a device for controlling the flow of a medium, having a housing and a flap supported pivotably in it between a closing position and an open position, which flap in its closing position rests with its peripheral region on stop faces of the housing that are present on both sides of the longitudinal axis, to create tightness in the closing position in later operation, the flap is subjected to a force which is selected, taking into account the material comprising the stop faces and the flap, such that the flap with its peripheral region rests on at least one stop face at least substantially with linear contact. The force can be selected such that the housing, in the region of at least one stop face, and/or the flap, in its peripheral region, is permanently deformed. The housing and the flap are of metal.

  • Patent number: 6089496
Abstract: A system to achieve an improved winding structure while winding webs (1, 1', 1" . . . ), especially paper webs, to obtain at least one wound web roll (5, 5', 5" . . . ) on a winding machine, comprises sensors 8A, 9A for determining torque load 8 and rider roll nip load 9, respectively, in order to change the tension remaining in the wound web. The winding machine is of a supporting drum type with at least two supporting drums (2, 3), at least one of these supporting drums preferably has elastic flexible surface (2', 3'). The torque and nip loads 8, 9, respectively, for changing the tension remaining in the wound web roll operate such that the tension of the web (1, 1', 1" . . . ) first decreases at increasing web roll diameter of said at least one web roll (5, 5', 5" . . .) during an initial winding phase, then stays approximately at the same level and, after winding further, decreases further at increasing wound web roll diameter during a final winding phase.

  • Patent number: 6085203
Abstract: A method for converting data formats which differ from one another during exchange of messages or data between programs running on different processors of a communication system provides that a conversion procedure is generated per each data type during the translation event of the source programs and that the conversion procedure which controls the conversion of the data formats is called during the later running of the processes and programs immediately before a message exchange.

  • Patent number: 5959540
Abstract: A system for limiting access to certain components of a vehicle where the vehicle has a valet mode wherein access to the certain components of the vehicle is limited and a normal mode wherein the certain components are operable. The vehicle has a processor programmed to place the vehicle in the valet mode upon receipt of a first signal and to place the vehicle in the normal mode up receipt of a second signal. Mode changing signals are transmitted to a processor using a remote control and a connector switch removably connected to the remote control, wherein the remote control transmits the first signal when the connector switch is disconnected from the remote control, and wherein the remote control transmits the second signal when the connector switch is reconnected to the remote control. A radio in the vehicle and/or a voice-recognition system can also be used to transmit the mode changing signals to the processor.

  • Patent number: 5742230
Abstract: An apparatus for triggering a warning device, in particular in a vehicle with an on-board controller to influence braking pressure and/or engine torque and/or steering as a function of the movement behavior of the vehicle wheels and/or of the vehicle, is described. In the event of a fault in the controller, ground is applied to the warning device by a control unit of the controller and the fault is thereby indicated. At least one comparator is provided, to which on the one hand a comparison voltage and on the other hand a further voltage can be applied, such that the comparator becomes conductive and applies to the warning device the ground applied to it, if the further voltage is less than a first comparison voltage and/or if the further voltage is greater than a second comparison voltage.

  • Patent number: 5639045
Abstract: In order to be able to manufacture large-caliber reels of high quality in a twin drum reel-up, the king rolls (11) and (12) have different diameters and are situated at different elevations. The main load of the reel is carried by the king roll (11), while the king roll (12) contacts the reel (13) with the smallest possible nip pressure which just suffices for transferring the torque difference required for generating the desired winding tension of the reel. The king roll (12) may be lowered as the diameter of the reel increases, namely depending on the fact if the winding shaft (13A) is displaced along a predetermined line of motion (14; 15), preferably a linear vertical or slightly tilted line of motion. An additional center drive which is made possible due to the aforementioned measures may additionally improve the winding result.

  • Patent number: 5065524
Abstract: The device for measuring the internal diameter of tubes 2 consisting of two interconnected measuring units 3 and 4 that are connected to one another. The first measuring unit 3 is formed by a measuring head 9 in conjunction with a displacement transducer 7, which is axially displaceable within a tube 2. The axial displacement of the measuring head 9 is determined by a length measuring device consisting of a friction wheel 25 associated with a rotation transducer. To achieve this, the friction wheel is in functional connection with a flexible tube 24 which is rigidly connected to the measuring head 9. Thus, this measuring device makes it possible to determine internal diameters at two positions located at axially spaced locations from one another in a tube 2.

  • Patent number: 4395141
Abstract: A stern tube bearing for vessels is sealed off in a leakproof aft seal asbly which comprises at least one annular chamber between axially spaced sealing elements. The annular chamber is filled with a liquid for lubricating the sealing elements. The liquid is circulated in a circulation system through a separating tank. The head of the circulated liquid is lower than the head of a lubricant in the stern tube bearing which again is lower than the lowest possible head of the sea-water surrounding the aft seal assembly. Any sea-water or dirt entering into the annular chamber will be removed out of it by the circulated liquid and separated from it in the separating tank which can be provided with devices for supervising the circulation system. A forward seal assembly of the stern tube bearing may be included in the circulation system.
