  • Patent number: 5383700
Abstract: A vehicle sun visor having a sun-visor body with a sun-visor shaft at a corner. One end region of the shaft is seated in a bearing housing in the sun-visor body and clamped against by a spring. The end region of the sun-visor shaft has as a detent an axial region corresponding to the axial extent of the spring. The sun-visor shaft has three circumferential regions of different diameter over the axial detent region including a flat, and starting from one lengthwise edge of the flat, a circular arc region and, adjoining that, a region which is spirally decreasing in diameter toward the opposite circumferential edge of the flat.

  • Patent number: 5035461
Abstract: A vehicle folding top is stowed in an associated generally U-shaped folding-top box when the folding top is opened. The folding-top covering held by a folding-top structure is, during the lowering of the folding top, drawn into the folding-top box while, at the same time, run on a directing edge at the upper margin of a limiting wall of the folding top box. The directing edge extends over a middle wall and over a part length of the side walls of the folding-top box and is softened by rounding edges which merge into the wall surfaces. To allow the folding-top covering to be inserted into the folding-top box with a minimum of wear, an additional directing contour is provided above the box and comprises, at its upper margin, a run-on edge set back relative to the directing edge of the folding-top box and a sliding surface located between the directing edge and the run-on edge.

  • Patent number: 5004291
Abstract: The invention relates to a top framework of a folding top for vehicles, which comprises a trapezoidal main bow, which can pivot about a horizontally extending vehicle transverse axis. On both sides of the main bow in each case there is provided an at least one-piece lateral roof frame and a front roof frame interconnecting the lateral roof frames such that they can be deflected transversely outwards. The lateral roof frames are coupled to the main bow by further framework members in such a way that, during the shifting of the upright main bow, they are forcibly controlled into a stowage position near to the obliquely inclined strut sections of the lateral struts of the main bow.

  • Patent number: 4991904
Abstract: A top cover for a collapsible top of a motor vehicle is supported, in the region of a windscreen frame of the motor vehicle, by a rigid roof panel located under it. A cloth lug is fastened to the flexible top cover near the rear end of the roof panel and extends in a transverse direction of the vehicle. The lug can be secured to the underside of the roof panel and consequently keeps the flexible top cover resting against the roof panel.

  • Patent number: 4984841
Abstract: The invention relates to a folding top for vehicles, which comprises a main bow which can pivot about a vehicle transverse axis. At each vehicle side a control arm is assigned to the respective two lateral struts of the top of the main bow serving as component parts of a top framework covered by means of a flexible roof skin. Roof skin retaining rails for tightening the roof skin are arranged on the outside of the struts of the top. These retaining rails are capable of being transferred by means of automatic adjustment mechanisms from a stretching position, spread apart from the struts of the top, which is the case when the main bow is upright and in which position the lower ends of the roof skin retaining rails rest against the side-boards of the associated structure, into a folding position nearer the struts during the course of the swing-back movement of the main bow.

  • Patent number: 4842328
Abstract: For obtaining a permanent decorative high-grade fixing of the inner roof covering in a motor vehicle, an approximately U-shaped retaining rail is used whose two legs terminate each in a lip, of which one is bent under interposition of a film hinge--receiving the ceiling material by welding operation--within the area of the film hinge in the direction of a flange-receiving opening extending between the two legs. The flange-receiving opening serves during the fastening of the thus-pre-assembled roof covering for being mounted over a roof-side flange.

  • Patent number: 4815775
Abstract: The invention concerns a power-assisted lock for doors, hatches hoods or hard tops of vehicles and the like. In addition to a known pivotal latch and a catch for a releasable engagement with the pivotal latch there is a control disc pivotally mounted in the housing of the lock. A manual or power actuated drive means is attached to the control disc for the closing and opening operation. The pivotal latch and the control disc have a drive connection providing for limited play. The arrangement together with the catch leads to a locking of the control disc before a closing operation and an unlocking of the control disc by turning the pivotal latch during the closing operation of the lock. The pivotal latch has the usual pre-lock position.

  • Patent number: 4697841
Abstract: The invention relates to suction cups attached to the body of a motor vehicle for positioning the windshield during the hardening of an adhesive between the windshield and the body of the motor vehicle. The suction cups ensure a quick and accurate assembly of the windshield by maintaining a fixed position of the windshield during the hardening of the adhesive.

  • Patent number: 4582356
Abstract: The disclosure concerns a sun visor including a visor body which is adapted to slide axially along a pivot-bearing housing defined along one longitudinal edge of the sun visor body, whereby the sun visor can be swiveled around that pivot-bearing housing and the sun-visor body can move along the pivot bearing housing. Inside the pivot-bearing housing is disposed one arm of the support shaft for the visor. A sleeve that is around the shaft and inside the pivot-bearing housing is slidable along the shaft and is fixed to the pivot-bearing housing by a spring which acts upon the sleeve through a window in the pivot-bearing housing. A second slide member is positioned toward the free end of the shaft. The end of the pivot-bearing housing supports a fastened on clip, which closes that end of the pivot-bearing housing. The reinforcing insert for the sun-visor body is also supported between flanges formed on the pivot-bearing housing.

  • Patent number: 4518197
Abstract: Water guide channels for motor vehicles are known, which have a continuous profile strip running along the windscreen pillar and the roof, the profile strip having a constant cross-sectional shape over its entire length. In order to optimize an arrangement of this type, it is proposed that in the region of the windscreen pillar, the profile strip form a wall part of a water guide channel open towards the center of the vehicle and, that, in the approximately horizontal roof region, it completely covers up the top of a channel formed by depressions in the external skin of the roof thereby forming the water guide channel by a leg of the profile strip, and the external skin of the roof.
