  • Patent number: 9749740
Abstract: A method and apparatus for operation of a remote speaker microphone over an expanded temperature range. By monitoring a temperature of the communication device, a temperature sensitive microprocessor can be disabled above a predetermined extreme temperature, thereby allowing control of an audio path of the communication device to be modified. Microphone and speaker signals of the communication device can be switched or rerouted to an electronic path capable of operating above the predetermined extreme temperature for expanded operation while previous microprocessor controlled digital and analog audio circuits are shut down.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 17, 2015
Date of Patent: August 29, 2017
    Assignee: MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS, INC.
Inventors: German Borkhovik, Mark A. Prudden, Daniel Grobe Sachs

  • Patent number: 9473908
Abstract: A communication system (100) formed of a portable radio (102) and radio accessory (106) is provided in which the accessory (106) provides emergency strobe and flashlight modes, the flashlight mode further providing a low battery indicator. Strategic control of lighting triggers and patterns allows for a single high intensity LED (132) to be used for both emergency strobe and flashlight modes, with minimized impact on battery life.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 12, 2013
Date of Patent: October 18, 2016
    Assignee: MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS, INC.
Inventors: Daniel Grobe Sachs, German Borkhovik, Charles B. Jaris, Chirag N. Patel

  • Patent number: 8214557
Abstract: Methods and systems for measuring available direct memory access (DMA) throughput are disclosed, including providing a plurality of DMA channels, the DMA channels comprising a measuring DMA channel and other DMA channels, the measuring DMA channel having a lowest data rate priority, and determining an available DMA throughput by measuring a current data rate at which the measuring DMA channel is serviced in response to initiating a data transfer on the measuring DMA channel.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 26, 2010
Date of Patent: July 3, 2012
    Assignee: Continental Automotive Systems, Inc.
    Inventors: Antonio Arena, German Borkhovik
