  • Patent number: 4660400
Abstract: The disclosed stand comprises a housing with carriers that are located pairwise on either side of the axis of rolling oppositely to each other and accommodate the bearing chocks of the work rolls. The work rolls are disposed one above the other between the backup rolls. A device for prestressing the stand is included. A device for prestressing the work rolls separately interconnects the bearing chocks of the work rolls of each pair located one above the other.

  • Patent number: 4237714
Abstract: A stand of a cold tube-rolling mill is formed by a housing and work rolls. Mounted in pairs on the housing are uprights arranged opposite to the axis of rolling. The work rolls are mounted one above the other in the bearing supports between pairs of lower and upper backup rolls mounted in corresponding bearing chocks. The upper bearing chocks are adapted for vertical setup motions. The stand has a device for ensuring positive contact of the work rolls. The device is a linkage mechanism for each bearing chock of the upper backup rolls that links kinematically the bearing chock with an independent power drive ensuring its vertical setup motion.

  • Patent number: 4184352
Abstract: In the process of rolling a tubular billet with a mandrel is displaced in the rolling direction as it is simultaneously rotated about its longitudinal axis. Then a portion of the billet is advanced between the working rolls and is drawn over the mandrel during backward movement of the billet together with the mandrel. During forward movement of the billet with the mandrel, the billet is displaced relative to the mandrel in the same direction for a distance equal to that covered by the billet portion fed into the gap between the working rolls. The backward movement of the billet with the mandrel is effected at a speed substantially close to the peripheral speed of the working rolls at the starting moment of the drafting operation. The pilger mill comprises a stationary stand with continuously rotating working rolls. The mill also incorporates a billet feeding and turning mechanism and a billet gripping jaw kinematically linked with each other.
