  • Patent number: 11806540
Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and methods for managing communications in a remote therapy system. A method includes initiating a remote therapy session by establishing communications between a patient device and an implantable medical device implanted in a patient, and establishing communications between the patient device and a clinician device, determining, using the patient device, a distance between the patient and the patient device, comparing, using the patient device, the determined distance to a threshold distance, and managing the communications between the patient device and the implantable medical device based on the comparison.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 7, 2020
Date of Patent: November 7, 2023
    Assignee: Advanced Neuromodulation Systems, Inc.
Inventors: Scott DeBates, Germinal Ibarrola, Doug Lautner
  • Patent number: 11364386
Abstract: A system, method and a network architecture for facilitating remote care therapy via secure communication channels between clinicians and patients having one or more IMDs, wherein certain unique information retrieved from an IMD is used in association with an encryption key infrastructure system for establishing trusted relationships between a clinician device, a patient's device and the patient's IMD. A cloud-based remote care session manager is provided for registering and validating the clinician and patent devices based on the IMD data used as trust indicia. In one embodiment, trusted associations between the devices are only established when the devices in close proximity of each other, e.g., in an in-person setting.

  • Publication number: 20200402656
Abstract: A system, method and network architecture for facilitating remote care delivery involving a patient having an implantable medical device (IMD). Upon establishing a remote care session between a patient controller device and a clinician programmer, wherein the clinician and the patient are remotely located with respect to each other, telehealth consultation may be provided to the patient by the clinician via an audiovisual (AV) communications session channel. Responsive to determining that the patient requires remote therapy, one or more (re)programming instructions may be provided to the patient's IMD via a remote therapy session channel of the remote care session using an integrated graphical user interface (GUI) that may include suitable GUI controls for AV communications, remote session control as well as the remote programming of the patient's IMD.

  • Patent number: 9463325
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for maintaining a bi-directional communication link between an external device and an implantable medical device (IMD). The systems and methods receive a connection request from an external device at the IMD. The communication request includes one or more communication link parameters based on a wireless protocol, defining a first communication interval. The systems and methods establish a bi-directional communication link between the external device and the IMD based on the one or more communication link parameters, and receive, during the first communication interval, a data packet from the external device along a first data channel, the data packet including an adjusted communication link parameter. The adjusted communication link parameter include a second communication interval.
