  • Patent number: 9378337
Abstract: Example systems and methods of deleting data stored in a database system are presented. In one example, a plurality of data items is received from an application and stored at the database system. Also received from the application and stored at the database system is deletion timing information for each of the data items. The deletion timing information for a data item may indicate when the data item is to be deleted from the database system. At least one of the data items may be deleted at the database system at a time indicated by its corresponding deletion timing information without assistance from the application.

  • Patent number: 8452741
Abstract: Data retention requirement rules may be created to have an area association, a minimum retention period specification, and a maximum retention period specification associated with one or more rules. Users may be assigned to one or more areas of at least one rule. Data objects may associated with one or more areas that may be associated with a rule. As the rules are updated and/or changed, the minimum and maximum periods in different rules may be compared in real time to implement a data retention policy that automatically deletes, preserves, and/or prevents access to data objects according to the each of the rules.

  • Patent number: 7827160
Abstract: This disclosure provides various embodiments of systems, methods, and software for managing distributed index data. For example, in one embodiment, software for managing distributed index data may identify a query for one or more data objects from a data repository using a generic index, map the query to one of a plurality of logically distributed indices according to at least one rule, and execute the mapped query using the particular distributed index to retrieve the one or more data objects. Each distributed index may be in a disparate index repository that is on a disparate storage device. In some aspects, the one or more rules may include a plurality of business rules, as well as at least one technical rule, which may be stored in a rules repository. In further aspects, an administration view may be presented to a client such that one of the business rules is customized.

  • Publication number: 20080154994
Abstract: Index data is maintained in a first index of current data objects and in a second index of aged data objects. A database management system may categorize data objects as either current or aged based either on processes associated with the data objects or based upon time. The database management system may later re-categorizing the data object to reflect changes in processes or time. The database management system may receive a query for data and first search the index of current data objects, then search the index of aged data objects.
