  • Publication number: 20090158436
Abstract: There currently exists a plurality of digital rights management (DRM) systems on the market, each with its own rights expression language. As a result, when an electronic data object is exported from one DRM system to another DRM system, translation errors are generated, which can cause the irretrievable loss of individual rights granted by the copyright holder. To export rights to use electronic data objects and ensure interoperability between different DRM systems, the original rights to use that can be associated with the electronic data object are exported from data source to the data sink. In this way, the original license is advantageously kept when the rights to use are exported from one DRM system to another DRM system.

  • Patent number: 7420971
Abstract: A method is described for transmitting a byte stream (1) from a transmitter unit to a receiver unit in a network protocol, with the following steps: Removal of at least one data area (4a,4b) of the byte stream (1) from the byte stream, Transmission to the receiving unit of information relating to which data area (4a,4b) or which data areas (4a,4b) has or have been removed from the byte stream (1) and/or relating to the way in which the shortened byte stream is to be further processed, Transmission of the byte stream (5) shortened by at least one data area (4a, 4b) to the receiver unit, which, from the information and the shortened byte stream, determines and further processes the at least one data area removed by the transmitter unit.

  • Patent number: 7397856
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for storing and processing picture information of temporally successive pictures wherein in each case at least one picture area is selected from each temporally preceding picture taking into account, the picture information determined from each selected picture area is stored with an assignment information item, which enables an assignment of the respective picture area and thus also of the picture information of the respective picture area to the corresponding picture and to the position of the picture area within the corresponding picture, at least one mixed picture is formed from the picture information of the respectively stored, selected picture areas, taking the account of the assignment information, and the mixed picture is used in the context of a motion estimation, a motion compensation or an error masking for an image.

  • Patent number: 7168031
Abstract: A method is provided for channel decoding a data stream containing useful data and redundant data, the data stream exhibiting at least one known source-coded errored bit sequence which identifies a pre-determined position within the data stream, wherein the data stream is channel decoded, the source-coded errored bit sequence is determined from the channel-decoded data stream, and the data stream is again channel decoded taking into consideration the detected source-coded errored bit sequence.

  • Patent number: 7068721
Abstract: Pixels in a digitized picture are grouped into picture blocks, which in turn are grouped at least in a first picture region and a second picture region. An overall motion vector is determined, through the use of which any shifting of the first picture region in comparison to the first picture region in a previous picture is described. The overall motion vector is allocated to all the picture blocks in the second picture region. A motion vector is determined for each of the picture blocks in the first picture region. The coding information of the picture blocks, the motion vectors and the overall motion vector are coded. A configuration for coding a digitized picture and a configuration for decoding a compressed picture are also provided.

  • Patent number: 7039107
Abstract: In a method and arrangement for processing a digitized picture with pixels, pixels of the picture are grouped into picture blocks. The picture is segmented into at least a first picture object and a second picture object, at least one picture block being assigned at least to a part of an edge of the first picture object. Information about the picture object is assigned to the at least one picture block.

  • Patent number: 7023916
Abstract: A method and arrangement are provided for motion estimation in a digitized picture having pixels, the pixels being grouped into picture blocks. The pixels can be grouped into at least a first picture area and a second picture area. First motion estimation is carried out in a first search area in order to determine a first motion vector. Furthermore, second motion estimation is carried out in a second search area in order to determine a second motion vector. The first search area and the second search area are of different sizes.
