  • Patent number: 6345432
Abstract: A method for manufacturing housing or control-components parts of metal including the steps of: manufacturing a housing or control-component part (1, 3) as a forged or cast blank (4, 5), stamping a recess (6) in the blank for an indicator insert with a stamping die in a stamping device, thereby creating a protrusion (7) on a back wall surface (8) of the part in the stamping direction, constricting the recess (6) with peeled protrusions of the peripheral walls (9) defining the recess (6), injecting a transparent plastic (2) into the recess (6) and, if applicable, into a mold connected with the recess (6) for forming a collar (10) on a front wall surface (11) in the stamping direction, and ablating the back wall surface (8) and the protrusion (7) by a fixed thickness amount (12), which results in exposure of the recess (6) and of the transparent plastic (2).

  • Patent number: 6021690
Abstract: An operational control for use with a ventilation, heating, or air conditioning unit of a vehicle, that can be actuated by a turn knob comprises: a guide member for being attached to and manipulated by a turn knob, the guide member defining a guiding groove; an adjusting lever for actuating a Bowden cable to which the adjusting lever is linked, the adjusting lever being mounted adjacent the guide member to pivot; a guide pin attached to the adjusting lever for extending into the guiding groove for cooperating with the guiding groove to cause the adjusting lever to pivot when the guide member is manipulated. The adjusting lever is made of a material that can be welded to steel and the guide pin is a weld-on steel ball welded to the adjusting lever.

  • Patent number: 5545864
Abstract: A push button switch (3) encounters, during a stroke of a push rod (6) thereof, a pressure point (D), a switching (contact-making) movement, and a return tension. A one-piece spring element (16) is provided for achieving this with an uncomplicated structure, with a short stroke, and with a reliable contact once the pressure point has been overcome. The one-piece spring element has, between a contact arm (26) and a return arm (21), hairpin-shaped bent guide legs (17, 18). A sloping step (24) formed on at least one of the guide legs creates the pressure point.

  • Patent number: 4840114
Abstract: An air outlet device is to grant in its closing position a tight closing e from whistling noises. This is to be achieved by simple means and despite component tolerances. For this purpose longitudinal gaps formed between a closure flap and seat edges before the closing process narrow towards that end of the closure flap which is remote from the actuating part. During the closing movement the closure flap is distorted elastically so that the longitudinal gaps close at first in the sections remote from the actuating part.

  • Patent number: 4823238
Abstract: An air outlet device including an air outlet channel having an open front and being located near an actuating part is provided with a plug base for a lamp behind the actuating part in a light-transmitting acceptance chamber. The lamp is to be replaceable from the front side without having to remove the actuating part toward the front. For this purpose the acceptance chamber is provided with a passage opening to the air outlet channel. The plug base is combined with a guide bead which, in the operating position, extends through the passage opening into the air outlet channel and ends at the front edge thereof as a handle. The plug base can be pulled through the air outlet channel and the passage opening out of the acceptance chamber and then be reintroduced into the latter.

  • Patent number: 4800466
Abstract: An illumination device for a front panel with illuminated areas, the latter eing illuminated by an incandescent lamp sitting in a connection base located behind the front panel through at least one light guide. The connection base is placed behind the front panel so that the incandescent lamp points away from the cover member. The lamp extends behind the front panel to the light guides. To make the incandescent lamp easily replaceable without loss of light, a cover member is removably attached to the illumination device such that removal of the cover member permits ready access to the incandescent lamp/connection base.
