Publication number: 20240000445Abstract: A suture construct includes a single filament of suture forming two cinchable loops from separate finger trap arrangements, with a fixed-length spanning portion extending between fixed portions of the two finger traps. A tail of the suture extends from each finger trap and is slidably disposed therein to cinch the respective loop. The construct can include an anchor slidably coupled to each of the first and second loops. An inserter for the construct includes first and second insertion devices, each having a proximal handle and distal insertion shaft. The two handles couple together to dispose the insertion shafts alongside each other, with a first shaft extending through the second handle shaft and beyond the second shaft. The first handle is coupled proximal to the second such that the first device can be decoupled from the second by removing it proximally, which withdraws the first shaft from the second handle.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 30, 2022Publication date: January 4, 2024Inventors: Stefan M. Gabriel, Gerome O. Miller, Mehmet Ziya Sengun, Howard Tang, Mark Shainwald

Publication number: 20230329869Abstract: Systems and methods for opposing abnormal motion of an adjacent bone are provided. One exemplary embodiment of a surgical method includes delivering and securing a bone barrier to a bone bed of a glenoid such that at least a portion of the bone barrier extends laterally beyond the bone bed and can oppose, prevent, and/or reduce abnormal motion of an adjacent bone (e.g., a humeral head). The bone barrier can be secured along a periphery of a glenoid of a shoulder. More particularly, the bone barrier can be placed and secured such that at least a portion of the bone barrier extends laterally over the glenoid and can oppose abnormal motion of the humeral head. In some embodiments at least one suture anchor and suture can secure the bone barrier to the bone bed.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 18, 2023Publication date: October 19, 2023Inventors: Mehmet Ziya Sengun, Stefan Gabriel, Gerome O. Patent number: 11660103Abstract: A system and method for attaching tissue to bone are provided. In one embodiment, a system for attaching tissue to bone includes a suture, suture anchor, inserter tool, drill, and drill guide having an outer guide and an inner guide. A method for attaching tissue to bone includes attaching a suture to tissue, nesting the suture in a notch on the distal end of the outer guide, passing the suture through a lumen formed in the outer guide, and inserting an inner guide in a lumen formed in the outer guide. The drill guide protects the suture from rotational movement of the drill and allows a user to maintain alignment between the drill guide and the drilled hole. As a result, a suture anchor can be more easily positioned within the drilled hole.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 2017Date of Patent: May 30, 2023Assignee: MEDOS INTERNATIONAL SARLInventors: Gerome O. Miller, Kevin B. McKenney, Gregory R. Whittaker

Publication number: 20220287705Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods to improve both the reliability of soft tissue repair procedures and the speed at which the procedures are completed are provided. The devices and systems include one or more tissue augmentation constructs, which include constructs that are configured to increase a footprint across which suture applied force to tissue when the suture is tied down onto the tissue. The tissue augmentation constructs can be quickly and easily associated with the repair suture, and can be useful in many different tissue repair procedures that are disclosed in the application. In one exemplary embodiment, one or more constructs are disposed on a suture threader, which can be used to associate the construct(s) with a repair suture(s) being used to repair the soft tissue. Tissue augmentation constructs can include various blocks and patches, among other formations. Exemplary methods for manufacturing the tissue augmentation constructs are also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 25, 2022Publication date: September 15, 2022Inventors: Mehmet Ziya Sengun, Benjamin Cleveland, Reagan A. Theis, Gerome O. Miller
