  • Patent number: 10807042
Abstract: A process is disclosed for reversibly absorbing carbon dioxide to an alkali metal or earth alkaline absorbent. For absorption the absorbent is contacted with a first gas composition. For desorption the absorbent is contacted with a second gas composition. The moisture contents of the first and second gas compositions are controlled so that during the absorption step the absorbent is converted to a bicarbonate, and during the desorption step the absorbent is converted to a carbonate hydrate. Compared to prior art processes the process of the invention requires less energy input. The process of the invention is particularly suitable for producing a carbon dioxide enriched gas for accelerating plant growth in a greenhouse.

  • Patent number: 9550142
Abstract: A device is disclosed for conducting an adsorption/desorption swing reaction. The desorption step of the reaction is conducted at least in part at a temperature below 100° C. Dry steam is used for purging the reactor and the adsorbent bed in the reactor. For this purpose the device has a water reservoir, and a vacuum source in fluid connection with the water reservoir and the reactor. During the desorption step the vacuum source causes water to evaporate, and the water vapor to flow through the reactor.

  • Publication number: 20160157438
Abstract: A method is disclosed for accelerating growth of plants in a controlled environment, such as a greenhouse or an algae pond. The method comprises reversibly adsorbing carbon dioxide from a carbon dioxide containing gas, such as ambient air or a flue gas; desorbing the adsorbed carbon dioxide; and releasing the desorbed carbon dioxide into the controlled environment. In a preferred embodiment water vapor is also adsorbed from the carbon dioxide containing gas and recovered as liquid water. The liquid water can be used in the plant growing process.

  • Publication number: 20150139887
Abstract: A solid material is disclosed for reversibly adsorbing carbon dioxide. The material comprises a porous carrier material. Deposited on the carrier material is a salt that is capable of reacting with carbon dioxide. Optionally the solid material further contains a particulate, water-insoluble inorganic material. The material can be used in a process for recovering carbon dioxide from a carbon dioxide containing gas mixture. The gas mixture can be atmospheric air. The process comprises a temperature swing between an adsorption temperature T1 and a desorption temperature T2. The difference between T2 and T1 is less than 200 ° C.

  • Patent number: 6675726
Abstract: The invention relates to a system for thermal combustion processes of matter such as, for instance, waste incineration. The system comprises a computer for measuring parameters of the combustion of the matter, wherein use, matter, such as for instance waste, is supplied to the system and combusted, thereby forming a flue gas. The system further comprises means for determining the concentration of CO2, O2 and H2O in the flue gas. The computer is arranged for determining, on the basis of the measured concentrations, the rate of combustion and/or the composition of the combustible part CHyOz of the waste supplied to the system, for the purpose of process control.
