  • Publication number: 20230388578
Abstract: The server system receives, from a respective remote physical client device, a digest of a segment of video content received by the respective remote physical client device, the segment of video content including a plurality of frames of video content. In response to receiving the digest, the server system sends a playback command to the respective remote physical device to playback one or more of the plurality of frames of video content in the segment. The plurality of frames of video content in the segment have a frame rate. The server system determines a graphical processing unit (GPU) overlay instruction for overlaying content of a frame buffer with a respective portion of the segment of video content and sends, asynchronously from the frame rate of the plurality of frames of video content, the GPU overlay instruction to the respective remote physical client device.

  • Publication number: 20210377579
Abstract: The server system transmits, from a virtualized third-party application to a client device, an instruction to open a media resource from a content distribution network, the media resource comprising a plurality of video segments, each video segment of the plurality of video segments having video segment data and metadata. The server system receives, from the client device, first metadata for a first video segment of the plurality of video segments, without receiving first video segment data for the first video segment. The server system generates a recreated representation of the first video segment using the first metadata. The virtualized third-party application generates a transformed version of the recreated representation of the first video segment. The server system transmits, to the client device, an instruction to play the first video segment, wherein the instruction is based on the transformed version of the recreated representation of the first video segment.

  • Patent number: 11128903
Abstract: A server computing device receives, from a client device, a digest segment generated by the client device. The digest segment corresponds to a first media stream segment received by the client device, and the digest segment includes a representation of the first media stream segment. The server computing devices determines, using the digest segment, a playback command that corresponds to the first media stream segment and transmits, to the client device, the playback command.

  • Patent number: 7801063
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for reducing a transmission rate for retransmission of a current frame in a wireless communication system. The reduced transmission rate increases the probability that the current frame is correctly transmitted and acknowledged. The transmission rate is progressively reduced for the current frame to avoid the expiration of the frame's retry count, while not affecting the transmission rate of subsequent frames. The next frame should be transmitted at the highest rate permitted by the signal quality. A disclosed retry count expiry avoidance algorithm increases the reliability of a retransmission by lowering the transmission rate for the current frame when an acknowledgement is not received. When an acknowledgement is not received, the transmitting station proceeds to a retransmitting state where the transmitting station first attempts to retransmit the frame at the same rate.

  • Patent number: 7515913
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for automatically detecting when an operating channel needs to be changed in a wireless communication system. An alternate channel is selected by obtaining information about a plurality of available channels; assigning a score to each available channel; and selecting an alternate channel from the available channels based on the assigned score. The state of the selected alternate channel and the current channel are compared. A change to the selected alternate channel is initiated when one or more predefined criteria are satisfied.

  • Patent number: 7254367
Abstract: A method and mechanism for quickly and easily connecting wireless consumer electronic devices with each other without affecting other wireless devices in the vicinity, by bringing devices into close proximity while in a whisper mode of communication. In whisper mode, the reception and/or transmission capability is significantly reduced, limiting the distance over which the devices communicate, allowing for secure exchange of communications parameters The parameters exchanged in whisper mode may be used to enable unique, paired communication between the two devices, or between one of them and any other device already connected to a common network, when operating in their normal mode of operation, separated by any distance within the normal operational range of the devices.
