  • Publication number: 20100216587
Abstract: An arrangement for transmitting a torque from a transmission of a motor vehicle to a sideshaft is disclosed. The arrangement comprises a transmission having a transmission housing and a sideshaft assembly. The sideshaft assembly has at least one differential with a differential housing, a hollow shaft, a first sideshaft and a second sideshaft. The sideshaft assembly extends through the transmission housing and the differential being arranged outside the transmission housing.

  • Patent number: 4840262
Abstract: A clutch plate comprises a hub 1, side plates 9 rotationally fast on the hub, a friction lining carrier plate 15 between the side plates and moveable rotationally relative thereto, which movement is resisted by circumferential springs 14, and a viscous coupling arranged to provide torsional damping between the lining carrier plate and side plates. The viscous coupling comprises a housing with an inner part 4 on the hub, and an outer part 15a rotatably supported on the inner part and rotationally fast with the lining carrier element, and a plurality of interleaved plates 5 operating in a viscous liquid. The viscous coupling is accommodated between axially separated parts 10 of the side plates 9.

  • Patent number: 4838107
Abstract: A rotary drive element for damping torsional vibration comprises an outer part (1) and an inner part (2) defining an annular space therebetween, containing a plurality of interleaved plates and a viscous fluid. The plates comprise a set of first plates (3) having internal teeth (6') which engage teeth (8) on the inner part (2) of the element substantially without circumferential clearance, and outer teeth (5) which engage teeth (7) in the outer part (1) with a circumferential clearance. The second set of plates has inner teeth which engage the teeth of the inner part with a circumferential clearance, and outer teeth which engage the teeth in the outer part (1) without a circumferential clearance. Thus the inner and outer parts are able to move angularly relative to one another according to the circumferential teeth clearances, which movement is damped by the viscous fluid between the plates. The drive element may be incorporated in a gear wheel for a vehicle transmission, or a clutch driven plate.

  • Patent number: 4344745
Abstract: A self-sealing gear pump has seals formed between the end faces of the gear wheels and adjacent faces of a casing of the pump by thrust plates interposed between the end faces of gear wheels and the casing. The thrust plates have cavities formed behind them and are pressed against the end faces by the pumped fluid under pressure being admitted to the cavities. Each cavity is connected to both the high pressure side of the pump and the low pressure side of the pump by ports or nozzles, the flow section of the nozzle leading to the high pressure side being larger than that of the nozzle leading to the low pressure side. The surface area of each thrust plate exposed to its cavity is greater than its surface area exposed to the high pressure side of the pump and each cavity and the fluid connections to it are constructed as a hydraulic potentiometer which causes the pressure in the cavity and hence the sealing pressure of the plate against the gear wheels to be adjustable.
